Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

“The markt square is so different.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

Only the main square in Brussels can compare with this part of Brugges. Dominated by the belfry, take some time to have a meal or coffee looking out over the square.

“One of the HIghlights of Our Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Not for the faint hearted, or the larger than average physique - but definitely worth the effort. Qs are much shorter if you can visit other than on a weekend. Do take advantage of the display areas to catch your breath on the way up. Wear sensible shoes & take some water. Fascinating to watch the mechanisms at work, & deafening if you're at the very top when the bells sound!

“A must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

The belfry dominates the Markt and climbing the 366 steps is a must do when visiting the city. It is steep and narrow and you do have to queue but the views are well worth it.

“wonderful view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The view on Brugge is just fantastic. The price is 8 Euros and you will have to wait in a line for entry (my waiting time: over 1 hour). But I dont regret - to go to the Belfry is a "must do" in Brugge.

“Get there early!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

There was a biggish queue but it was worth the wait. We walked up 366 stairs and had great views. We liked watching the clockwork devices move at different times.
