“Basilica of the holy blood”

Absolutely fascinating this one. If you like the Da Vinci Code, you'll enjoy this mainly due to the artefacts, associated history and atmosphere. The basilica is not that big but contains written and pictorial information about the history of the building and events that took place at the time and within the Basilica itself. I went there a few years ago and it was free entry, but that may not apply now. Its a little unobtrusive, but is in the main square. I believe it was also signposted, so be sure to look out for it on local signage and guides. One point to mention is that it's a little dark in places and there are stairs, so partially sighted visitors or those unsteady on their feet may need to take care.

“Interesting”

I have now visited here on 4 different occasions.
The artwork is superb but I come to venerate the relic with my Dad and family. It has become a family visit.
Always moving.

If you like to visit churches then this one is worth a visit. It is free unless you want to visit the museum attached. There are set times that the 'vessel' is available for viewing. We visited at 2.30 and this was a good time as there were only a couple of other people in the church. We noted that after this time it became really busy with tourist groups.

“Loud tourists”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

What an amazing place, beautiful walls, ceilings, windows wherever you look. The scenes on the wall depicting the stations of the cross were truly moving, as was the music quietly playing in the background. There is a priest presiding over the phial of holy blood; if you go up to see it you are asked to make a donation. The only thing that spoilt the experience a little were the inconsiderate people who talked loudly, even though there are signs everywhere asking for silence and respect, and the 'happy snappers', taking photos of everything, even the priest - there are times when a camera is just not appropriate.

“History not to miss”

This is a must see, the vile with the Holy Blood is amazing. To think how old it is and how this city got it is so cool. The inside of the church is beyond words. My young daughters loved it too.
