“A holy experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Visit the Basilica between 2 and 3pm as this is when the Relic of the Holy Blood is on a display. We were invited to step up to the alter where you can place your hands on the glass box in which the relic is kept. A priest stands in prayer behind the relic.

It is certainly a very interesting and holy experience which I found one of the highlights of my visit to Bruges. The guardians of the church ask that you be silent and take no photographs, and this was in the main respected by the majority of visitors.

“We went we saw ........”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

We paid this a visit, nothing much to write home about!

There isnt much of a diference between this place and the dozens of other churches in Brugges apart from a lady sitting garding a tube containing a red fluid.

“Beautifula and moving”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

This Basilica is in an out of the way area-in a corner square up a couple of floors of stairs, however it is very beautiful. Inside is covered in gold. Seeing the vial of blood is very moving. A must see.

“A bit of a rip off”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

If it interests you then definitely take a visit. For a couple that were unaware really as to its heritage, i would suggest not paying the money to get in to the tiny, one room museum, but instead walking straight forward into the gorgeous chapel, and that bit is free!
