A stop that is well worth it when visiting the historic centre of Bruges. In good condition, but is relatively small, so can get quite crowded.

Its colourful, its bright, and it has a lot of detail. They carry out a service of veneration which people can take part in if they so choose. People are asked to be quiet while entering, inside and leaving, which some people appeared to take issue with.. it's a church what do people expect.

Worth going to see, for the photo opportunities and to perhaps watch the veneration ceremony.

The church is beautiful. I was a little surprised that you had to pay 2 Euros to actually see the vial of blood. This seemed really shady to me as we were in a church and I would not think they would charge for this. You can see the vial from a distance but it wasn't what I expected.

Though the Basilica is small it is fantastic but the exposition is decidedly vulgar. A priest watches over the 'blood' and the cash box just in front of it.. Seems you get a certificate if you donate enough into the (perspex) cash box.

On an upper level via stone steps the basilica has a relic of the Precious Blood, apart from this, beautiful stained glass and a lovely atmosphere of peace. Very impressive pulpit that seems rather space age compared with the rest of the building.
Well worth a visit as you explore Bruges.
