I stayed here for four nights in February; it was my first visit back to Bruges for more than 20 years. Prior to my trip I checked TripAdvisor for some guidance and also looked at various websites.
I noticed that Hotel Fevery had some excellent reviews, it was available when I wanted to go and it was in a quiet part of town, but still close to the centre. On arrival on the Sunday evening, I was made to feel welcome, shown to my room and given some a map and a discount card for local attractions. Paul the proprietor was also helpful in suggesting a local restaurant for the first night.
The room was on the first floor and overlooked the street; it had an en-suite bathroom which was fine for my needs, there was a tv/radio and it was warm. There was also a safe in the room, but although I followed the instructions to the letter, I couldn't get it to work! Not really a problem though.
The breakfast was perfectly adequate, comprising of cornflakes, orange juice, rolls, bread, ham, cheese, tea/coffee and a boiled egg (recommended). There was also an internet point for guests' use for a nominal charge.
It's about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Bruges from the hotel, and there are at least three ways to get there. The streets around the hotel are atmospheric and very quiet; it only really seemed busy in the centre. Just five minutes walk away, I seemed to have the place to myself.
Although it was only February, there were plenty of others staying at the hotel; French, Germans, English, Americans and even the odd Belgian or two! Paul dealt very professionally with all his guests, and appeared to be fluent in at least four languages.
A tip for those arriving by train and wishing to get to the hotel quickly; take buses 4 or 14 from the station (they run about every 10 minutes) and get off at Gouden Handstraat. Cross the street and take the road signposted "Hotel De Pauw". At the end of this street turn right, and the Fevery is just past the church on the left hand side. The bus costs €1.20 if you buy the ticket from the machine at the station, or €1.50 if you buy it on the bus.
I would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again.
