I stayed here for four nights in February; it was my first visit back to Bruges for more than 20 years. Prior to my trip I checked TripAdvisor for some guidance and also looked at various websites.

I noticed that Hotel Fevery had some excellent reviews, it was available when I wanted to go and it was in a quiet part of town, but still close to the centre. On arrival on the Sunday evening, I was made to feel welcome, shown to my room and given some a map and a discount card for local attractions. Paul the proprietor was also helpful in suggesting a local restaurant for the first night.

The room was on the first floor and overlooked the street; it had an en-suite bathroom which was fine for my needs, there was a tv/radio and it was warm. There was also a safe in the room, but although I followed the instructions to the letter, I couldn't get it to work! Not really a problem though.

The breakfast was perfectly adequate, comprising of cornflakes, orange juice, rolls, bread, ham, cheese, tea/coffee and a boiled egg (recommended). There was also an internet point for guests' use for a nominal charge.

It's about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Bruges from the hotel, and there are at least three ways to get there. The streets around the hotel are atmospheric and very quiet; it only really seemed busy in the centre. Just five minutes walk away, I seemed to have the place to myself.

Although it was only February, there were plenty of others staying at the hotel; French, Germans, English, Americans and even the odd Belgian or two! Paul dealt very professionally with all his guests, and appeared to be fluent in at least four languages.

A tip for those arriving by train and wishing to get to the hotel quickly; take buses 4 or 14 from the station (they run about every 10 minutes) and get off at Gouden Handstraat. Cross the street and take the road signposted "Hotel De Pauw". At the end of this street turn right, and the Fevery is just past the church on the left hand side. The bus costs €1.20 if you buy the ticket from the machine at the station, or €1.50 if you buy it on the bus.

I would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again.

For an economy hotel, it is done well. The amenities are basic but nice, in good condition and clean. Basic breakfast included. Very nice inn keeper with good info on the area. This is the best price for the quality for sure. It is a basic spot but a good value.

Right next to a lovely old large church and fairly easy to find - must take the bus if you have luggage (from city train station).

Would visit again. Beautiful city!

We have just spent 3 nights in Bruges at the Hotel Fevery and found it to be a really comfortable, friendly place to stay. The owner Paul was very helpful as other reviewers have stated. It is located in a nice area just north of the main Market square, with lots of really atmospheric streets close by.

Our room was located on the top floor and had a large bathroom with views over the street and a reasonable sized bedroom with views of the church. It was really lovely and warm in the room although the heating could be controlled, so when we got too warm we could adjust it.

Breakfast was good - decent rolls and bread, cereal, fruit and yoghurt plus an optional (highly recommended) boiled egg. We looked at some very over priced hotels in Bruges and while this was not the height of luxury it was a great place to stay and excellent value for money. We would definitely return here.

We recommend Bruges for a romantic getaway and liked the fact there weren't too many tourists around in January!

The hotel is a great find for the budget traveler. My friend and I stayed there four nights. The room was clean, tidy and well heated. This was important in December. The hotel is near the chuch of St. Gilles, where Hans Memling is buried. So it was always easy to find, whether on foot, or in a car. We drove in on a foggy night, and somehow drove to the hotel in short order. Again, we made a day trip to Ghent, found our way out and back in fairly easily. Paul has reserved parking spots a half block away in a secured parking garage.
This is a quiet area of town, and there are other hotels of two and three stars nearby. We didn't look in on them, although they looked comfortable from the outside.
Nearby there are a couple of restaurants: Tom's Diner, where a youngish crowd of cigarette puffers can be found. Also, around the corner was the Oud Handbogenhof, which served solid food and was good value, but the owners were not at all friendly toward foreigners.

  • Liked — Price and service.
  • Disliked — Lack of view.
  • Tips/Secrets — Good location and great value.

I stayed at this hotel over a weekend in September. I shared a room with 2 other friends - the room was small but immaculately clean, nice bathroom and plenty of towels for the 3 of us. The hotel owner, Paul, was kind and helpful, providing recommendations for restaurants and shopping when we asked. The restaurants he recommended were perfect for what we wanted. Breakfast was nicely done and filling, with eggs, various breads, fruits, and cheeses. The location was also ideal - not too close to the main square but within an easy walk. It is right next to a church and we enjoyed hearing the church bells ringing. If I return to Brugges I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Fevery is about ten minutes' walk north of the heart of Bruges, and is a small but very well-run family hotel. The manager Paul is very efficient and helpful, and he'll most likley give you a handful of discount vouchers to use around town as soon as you arrive. Breakfasts are regular fare but good, and the rooms are ensuite and exceptionally clean with TV. The only fault is that the showers are low pressure and, on one of the two mornings we stayed there, we couldn't get hot water. But I suspect that was a run-off. It's really a great value option.
