room on top floor overlooking canal, wonderful, great location for centre of Brugge, thought our two teenagers wouldn't think much of Brugge but they loved it.

Didn't stay at the Erasmus but had lunch there yesterday [Sunday]. The menu was had plenty of choices, and the food and beers delicious. A really nice place for a spot of lunch, even nicer if you can get a table on the back terrace when the sun's out. We haven't stayed there before but got that "feeling" that it would be good. So nice having got back to Blighty that our impression was right, having seen the reviews...

Standard rooms are 90e per night incl breakfast, luxury rooms 120e. We'd have no hesitation in booking. Bruges is beautiful and we feel this place would be just the right place to rest up after a hard day eating and drinking.

We are just back from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Erasmus in Bruges (Brugge) Belgium, and I cannot say enough nice things about this small hotel. It's in the perfect location, just where you want to be. We stayed in Room 27. a beautiful and very comfortable double with a view of a canal and a pretty bridge. The light was always changing, and my husband took about 100 photos of that bridge! I would definately suggest staying on the quiet (canal) side of the hotel, away from the noise of the cars and the clip-clop of the horse and carriages. The buffet breakfast is excellent, a wide chice of cereals, meat and cheese, yogurt, fruit, and lots of bread and pastries. Look for the chocolate filled pastry- yum! The staff was unfailingly helpful and polite. This place is a jewel!

I have just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel Erasmus with two girl friends. We stayed in Room 29 (a large king size and one single) and whilst it was on the main street and was quite noisy during the day (especially all those horse and carriages!!) it had a lovely but small balcony and a huge bathroom and the street really quietens down at night. The hotel is a lovely find, small, extremely friendly and charming . Tom the owner is kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for him. The breakfast is great (fresh orange juice, fruit, ceral, yoghurts, boiled eggs, breads and croissants) and we had dinner in the hotel on the first night which was delicious and made more so because it was warm enough to sit outside on the small terrace. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as not only is it in a perfect location but you are made to feel very, very welcome in what is a beautiful city.
