we were in Bruges in 06/2008. this hotel is very clean and elegant, we loved the lobby and the japanese garden with coloured fish, loved the breakfast and the orange courtains of the room. from our window we saw a picturesque view of this beautiful town. the bed was confortable and the hotel is close to the centre and near a nice canal with lovely swans, very romantic.
we'd love to come back to this place of paradise.

We stayed here as a group of 4 couples for a sightseeing weekend and were pleasantly suprised. 2 of the couples had rooms overlooking the canal and 2 had rooms overlooking the gardens. All were clean, spacious and comfortable. There were tea/coffee facilities in the room, but also free tea and coffee available in the lounge between 3pm and 4pm. The staff were all pleasant enough without being overly friendly and breakfast was unhurried and more than adequate.
There was a great little bar on the corner of the first bridge from the hotel that we stopped at for a drink on an evening as we made our way back to the hotel. Reasonable prices and good atmosphere. Also had a limited simple menu for food which looked good and reasonable price, but did not get a chance to try.
We did a trip to the war graves at Ypres and to the last post which was fantastic. We had a private tour with George Tours (his brochure is in the hotel lobby). Don't be put off thinking a private tour will be expensive - not necessarily so - and we had an excellent personalised tour with George himself.
Can also recommend a meal at Cambrinus Bierbrasserie in town - great food, plenty of it and fantastic range of local beers.
Recommend horse carriage tour and canal tour- we did both of these for a total cost of about the same as the cramped city bus tour.
Would not recommend the chocolate museum.

We stayed here late July 2011, the hotel was in a good location just outside the main town (about ten minutes walk to the Markt - main square). The area was quiet and quaint and overlooks one of the many canals here. Our room was at the front of the hotel on the fourth floor and was very spacious, the only slight downside was the noise from the lift once the breakfast service started. The staff were all very friendly and seemed to speak quite a few languages, we requested more coffee on a few occasions and they happily obliged. The breakfast choices were good, it is self service buffet style, the breakfast hours were longer on the weekends and the food and coffee were lovely, the staff here were also friendly and accommodating. All in all a pleasant place to stay while in Bruges

Very nice hotel at a good price. Also a nice breakfastbuffet. Close to the centre of the city.
Parking in the street of the hotel is free for 4 hours (with the use of a parkingcard).

Room Tip: The beds (matrasses) are a bit to soft to our taste (perhaps old?). Make sure you try them and ask f...

The included breakfast was very nice, as was our room - which was very spacious, clean, quiet and relaxing. The staff were courteous and polite throughout our stay, but not overly friendly.
The hotel stated it offered Wifi connectivity however when this was purchased at 13 euros it failed to work. The connectivity issue was not resolved and we were refunded the charge.
Despite the Wifi issue the over all experience was good but a few more euros than I would have liked to have paid.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the canal is nice

We stayed here last weekend. The rooms were large, ours did not overlook the canal but that was fine. The rooms are enormous and though the decor is dated, it was clean. There is a free breakfast buffet which is average and whilst it is a bit of a walk to the main square, one advantage is that parking is free out the front. If you park in the hotel's car park it is 15EUR a night. You also have to pay for WiFi.

We had booked 3 night stay via internet site. Having read previous reviews, believed the hotel was a reasonable, but not high end 4* so was not expecting luxury but just a decent standard of accommodation.
We didn't get off to a fantastic start as our arrival was not a particularly welcoming one - just very routine. The receptionist took our booking, directed us via the lift to our room on the 4th (top) floor and left us to it. We were travelling by car and had a reasonable amount of luggage with us but no help was offered. Also when we enquired about parking, we were told it was available at a cost of 15 euros per day which we thought was a little steep.
We trundled up to our room with the luggage and were very disappointed with what we found. The room was cramped, very outdated and worn with one skylight window. We returned to reception and expressed our disappointment. After a telephone conversation with the manager we were told we would be upgraded to a superior room which we accepted. I have attached photographs of the superior room which will hopefully give you an idea of what to expect.
The hotel has lots of potential......good location in Bruges and Bruges itself is a delightful city but we would not return or book a Golden Tulip as a result of our experience.
