“6 year old discovers secret archeological ruins in modern hotel”
Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

Our family (10 & 6) enjoyed an excellent stay at the centrally located a Crowne Palza. Good sized Family room with two queen beds was perfectly large for all four of us. The diverse breakfast buffet selection was very good with the fresh smoked salmon being a welcome addition.
The hotel is on the beautiful Burg which during the week also hosts a market. There was some noise from this in the morning but it was not early and no more than any busy street.
The staff were incredibly helpful, including lending us arm bands for the swimming pool. The fitness room and pool were good. Lots of exercise machines for a hotel and they were generally free when we used it. The pool was a good size and again generally empty, but the chemicals did make our daughters come out in a rash. We did t have the same problem, so I suspect they were just a bit strong.
The rooms were spotless, and the addition of a kettle, the favourite among the Brits, was a nice touch. The shower was very good, and beds comfortable, if a little soft.
Lastly, the remains of the old church under the modern hotel and the little museum was an unexpected find, by our 6 year old. Anyone interested in artefacts and archeology should pop down the stairs from reception!

Decided to break our trip from Paris to Amsterdam with a stop over in Brugge at the Crowne Plaza. Great choice. The staff are charming. Our room was as expected. Spent the afternoon enjoying the sites despite the hoards of tourists and believe me even in early April the place is overflowing. Strange thing is in the evening there is no one as they were all there on a day excursion so the evenings are lovely. This hotel is very very good. The in house retsaurant is the Plaza Café and the food was excellent. Great meal and then off for a wander and a coffee. But can not imagine why you need more than 24 hours in this town but it was fun.

We booked the Crowne Plaza because of recommendations on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. It is perfect for a good night's sleep and its brilliant location. Convenient parking in the basement of the hotel. Really no complaints.

Room Tip: Superior room at the front overlooking square.

We made a last minute trip to Brugge and stayed here as a family. The location was great for walking around the inner city area. Made it easy to make pit stops back to the room to drop off those chocolates. Kids also enjoyed the pool at end of day as it was open until 11pm. Breakfast was fine however the room we had was a bit noisy. Will request a room further away from the elevator next time.

Room Tip: Find rooms further away from elevator as can be noisy.

Lovely hotel located in a perfect area for tourist attractions, Located close to the main square and the belfry yet quiet enough not to be disturbed, a lovely eating area outside as well to be enjoyed in the summer.

Stayed with our teenage son in a sort of junior room that the Crowne Plaza website had listed as "medieval room." The excellent location, room size and ample breakfast buffet are what push my rating from three points to four -- everything else was average at best.

Room: Cool looking and quite big, but let down by the decor
Decor/Furnishings: lower class and faded -- lots of formica-type laminate and generally boring
Amenities: trouser press, iron & board, coffee kettle, smallish TV, moderate minibar, older but clean robes
Noise: even though on the 4th floor, could hear a fair amount of late night street noise at night
King bed: good, medium firm mattress.
Sofa bed: hard, but workable
Bathroom: big, but not luxe
Towels: very thin, clean but unsatisfactory
Shower: meh
Location: fantastic
Breakfast: worth the included price, as it ran from 6:30-10:30 am, with eggs (scrambled and pre-made omelette), bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom, hash browns, multiple cereals, pastries/croissants, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit.
Staff: all excellent (front desk, housekeeping and cafe)
Gym: small indoor pool looked OK, but tiny 3 piece gym has seen better days
