“The best thing was the parrot”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

All decoration & show but lacking substance. Lots of classical decor in the reception area and bars which would be fine for a wedding but not for a holiday. If they want people to return they must do better. The location is superb but there are other hotels in the area. The 20+ year old parrot was the best thing. The pool was tiny and too cold for my friend - when swimming you could see up the legs of anyone using the poolside toilet as it didn't have a proper door. There were no tea & coffee making facilities in the room but the communal facilities kept running out of teabags! If you were on the late side for breakfast lots of things had disappeared. There were no gluten free alternatives - not even rice cakes or a gluten free cereal. There were no comfy chairs in the room so after a days sightseeing there was only the bed or a hard wooden chair to sit on. There was insufficient space to separate the two beds to make a viable twin room. WORST OF ALL THE TOILET IN THE BEDROOM WAS 2 FEET FROM THE BED AND WITH NO HANDWASHING FACILITY - TERRIBLY UNHYGIENIC AND SMELLY. I would only expect such a ridiculous toilet arrangement in a tiny backstreet boarding house not a multi star hotel in a prime location. PARKING WAS A NIGHTMARE! My estate car barely fitted and I got scratched on the bushes trying to get things out of it in such cramped space, other guests arrived with a bigger car and there was a total crisis about where to put it - so don't go unless you have a small car.

Room Tip: Ask for a room where the toilet is in the bathroom and NOT NEXT TO THE BED!

Lovely little hotel in a superb central location. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We had a duplex family room, very spacious and clean. Reserved car parking is available for an extra charge, we found this really useful. There was a good selection at breakfast time. Used the swimming pool which was small and pleasant. The children especially loved talking to the parrot who sits in reception area - would strongly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Room Tip: Duplex family rooms are available - these are rooms on 2 levels with twin beds downstairs and a doub...

Brilliant location & comfortable little hotel with nice ambiance. Very comfy beds & a half decent shower! Would stay here again if in Bruges! One criticism is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Should really be standard in 2012 in a decent hotel.

For a best western, this hotel was a surprise. The rooms had a bit of a boutique hotel feel. I found it to be be well located (just a short walk from the main square), friendly staff, nice clean rooms (albeit a tad small, but we were really just sleeping there so it wasn't a big deal - might be problematic for people with kids). Rates were very reasonable and breakfast was a nice treat (good selection of fresh bread, fruits, cereal, etc. - much more than the continental breakfast we were expecting). Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet, reasonably priced and centrally located hotel. Only complaint would be that the parking garage was very tight. Our friends have a mid-sized vehicle (which is, admittedly, large by Euro standards), and it was quite challenging to park in the box type parking spots. Despite a lot of effort, the car still ended up with a few nasty scratches. Fortunately you really don't need a car in this town, so we only had to park it once.

We arrived at the hotel on a rainy weeknight to a lovely foyer, and a helpful staff. We reserved a double room, and were given a much larger King room, overlooking a beautiful garden courtyard. The majesty of Brugges continued into our hotel room. The breakfast was not fantastic, but not bad enough to warrant a lower rating. We loved this hotel and heartily recommend it for location, comfort and size.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard room-- large, spacious and quiet.

Our room was very different with a long hall way to the bathroom. It was spacious, modern, very clean and comfortable. We had a cute little deck off both the room and the bath which was very enjoyable at 5;00 in the afternoon for resting and having a glass of wine. The breakfast was wonderful. The only drawback was the location of the parking garage. It was not attached to the hotel and made it difficult to access.
