“Great Location”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Stayed over May bank holiday for a long weekend - perfect location, very comfortable, staff very helpful, friendly and informative, the breakfast buffet was much better stocked than we had expected. The only thing stopping me giving the hotel a 5 star review is that the room was quite small, although to be fair the hotel is located in an old building and they aren't likely to start knocking walls down to create larger rooms. Would stay here again.

Fantastic large family room, well appointed and close to all the tourist attactions. It's a short walk to the centre if you want to fight for a table with a view of the square in the busy restaurants, but within a 2 minute walk of the hotel there are several smaller back-street bars and restaurants that are more than a match for them.
The hotel staff were polite, helpful and although the hotel appeared full on the internet, a quick enquiry via the website got us this great room, swimming pool and lovely breakfast.
They also offer a card that gets you discount at loads of local attractions- canal boats, brewery, chocolate museum- something for everyone !

My mum and I visited as part of a Eurostar package last June and were delighted when we arrived at Hotel Navarra. Not only is it beautiful, it's in the heart of Bruges, and the facilities and service were both impressive.

The breakfast is fantastic offering a great selection. It was just what we wanted to start our days of sightseeing. I would advise anyone staying to take a swimming costume too - the pool in the basement is very sweet and an added bonus to an otherwise great hotel.

The staff are friendly and were great organising taxis and giving us recommendations for restaurants etc.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to book a wee sightseeing trip to Bruges.

Spent a long weekend at this little hotel just off the market square in Bruges close to all the major attractions. The great thing about Bruges is that everything is close together so our hotel was in the ideal spot. The other great thing is that there are loads of quality restaurants and bars serving excellent (strong) beer! The Hotel was a good base and whilst the room was relatively small it was comfortable and adequate. The bathroom was also quite small. It's a relaxed place where you can come and go and make the most of the city but we did not eat or drink in the bar or restaurant. There are so many other good options within the city.

Hotel is easy to find when travelling by car. We managed to get a car parking space within the courtyard at the front of the hotel. We wanted to keep an eye on the car so although 17 euros per 24 hours is hefty, we knew that in advance.

The outside of the building is very pretty so on that basis I suppose expectations of internal décor are high. The reception area is interesting but the rest of the hotel is very drab and dreary. Everything is brown. The wallpaper, the paint on the woodwork, the carpet. The lift is as big as our airing cupboard at home so it didn't appeal to me but that's ok, walking up three flights of stairs was fine and worked off the constant eating of waffles and frites. My husband used the gym and was happy with it.

Our room was bigger than I thought it would be and at the back of the hotel. Small area with chairs and table, television at a very odd angle but I can see there could be no other place to position it. Again though, no wow factor. The same hideous brown wallpaper, carpets, chairs and a darker brown for the curtains and bedspread. The furniture is cheap and looked like something out of a Travelodge. Bed was comfortable but the duvet was extremely thin and the pillows were not very comfortable. All of it was spotlessly clean. After the brown décor it was a shock to see a bathroom which was sparkling white and up to date!

We had no issue with external noise but we were at the back of the hotel. Slight issues with noise from other guests. Corridors are quite narrow and doors slammed shut a lot and we could certainly hear our fellow guest doing nothing but sliding open/closing their wardrobe door for about two hours.

That aside, hotel is very convenient to walk to anything you want to see in Bruges and lovely for the night and restaurant hunting. It is also great if you want to spend the day in Ypres and tour the WW1 battlefields. Easy to reach in our car in less than 40 minutes.

We did eat breakfast once but this was not included in our room rate. I think for 17 Euros each (yes..that is right..) it wasn't good value. If it's included then great. If not, don't bother. Nothing wrong with it but to get good value from 17 Euros per person you would need to fill your bowl up twice over with cereal/fruit and your plate twice over for the cooked items off the buffet. However, the scrambled eggs were excellent I have to say.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel, but just lacked something special for us. However for a couple of nights and a base, it is fine, and Bruges is a very expensive place to visit and stay and I can see in other four star hotels we could have paid twice as much as we did here so all good.

Another plus point is free Wi-Fi. Good connection, very fast.

We stayed here for two nights for a weekend break. The exterior of the hotel, lobby, pool and location is fantastic, however we felt let down with our room.

Our room on the top floor was small and the bed was very average, (reminded me of a premier inn). The bathroom was lovely, however we were provided with thin, plastic glasses, which was disappointing when we were paying over 150EUR a night.

The staff were all friendly enough although nothing to write home about.

As pointed out in previous reviews.. parking is a nightmare but there is large underground car park underneath one of the squares which cost us 8EUR for 24 hours. (someone on reception will be able to direct you)

Bruges itself is fantastic and we will definitely return - as for Hotel Navarra... probably not.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor seem to be smaller

We recently returned from a four night stay in the Hotel Navarra in Bruges. It had a work out room and pool where we were able to swim. I must say the pool was small and the exercise equipment was not plentiful. However......getting a workout was possible. Our room was nice sized and clean. There was a wide variety of food to be selected for breakfast. (Long baguettes which were there for the cutting were a nice extra touch) The hotel is close to the square and an easy walk. The staff was generous and helpful with suggestions for dining in the evening. There was a nice little bar/lounge which was a perfect spot for getting a drink before retiring. We would definitely stay there again on our next return trip to Bruges.
