We ate here last night and we could not fault this restaurant. The staff are attentive, have a fantastic knowledge of the food and are affable without being gushing. The 3 pre dinner tasters in the pretty courtyard outside set the bar for dinner. We were not disappointed. Crab with curried sabayonne cream was like something we'd never tasted. The linguine carbonara with lobster claw was beyond what I thought this dish could ever be. The home made macaroons were almost as light as dust but so tasty. This was a set menu which is what you get on a Saturday evening. If you give him notice, he will replace something if you cannot eat it -the menu is displayed on the website. I'm allergic to raw tuna tartare so was given velvet mouthwatering foie gras. Just send an email and you get a reply within a few hours.
A visit at the end of the meal by the owner who joined us at this table marked a perfect end to the evening, together with champagne and fireworks for our birthday girl. One of our party used to work in a Michelin 2* restaurant and said the food was on par but had a certain earthiness to it, lacking in pretence but bursting with flavour.
One small disappointment: NOT about the restaurant but the people that book and then don't turn up. It's rude and is also extremely unfair. He turned 10 people away last night and had 2 bookings who did not turn up. This is a small restaurant so have some respect and please let him know if you can't make it. At least it gives him options.
