We came across this place because it was next door to a bar recommended highly on TripAdvisor. The menu looked promising so in we went. The ambience is really nice and the Flemish stew delicious. My wife had chicken which was really good too, the sauce was delicious. We went back two days later, I had the ribs which were very tasty if a little tough as was the chicken, yes, she had the same again! Having said all that the owners are lovely and this restaurant deserves to be higher ranking than it is.

The Habit is the Best Little Restaurant in Bruges!!! Chef Paul serves authentic Flemish and Belgian dishes so delicious you will want to savor and enjoy every bite. Wife Ingrid is so welcoming, accommodating and fun, you will want to linger. This is exactly what my wife and I did on 15 May 2013 - enjoying a delicious 3 hour leisurely feast. We enjoyed ourselves so much we went to The Habit again on the 16th and stayed even longer until closing time. We highly recommend the Rabbit in the Habit, the Flemish Stew (both the meat and fish), and of course the Mussels. For those of you who must have more standard fare, Paul also serves some excellent all you can eat BBQ spare ribs. Go to The Habit with an appetite as portions are substantial but reasonably priced. The Habit has a decent selection of Belgian beer, and wine by the centimeter or bottle. This restaurant was a highlight of our first visit to Bruges and we will certainly make Paul and Ingrid’s restaurant The Habit whenever we visit Bruges in the future!

After 8 days in Paris we were saturated. French, Vietnamese, Spanish, Indian, cafes, ... We feared Bruge would have little to offer in comparison. Wandering the streets, searching for something different, we stumbled across The Habit. Advertising "Traditional Flemish Cuisine" is a misnomer of sorts. Yes, traditional dishes of fish, fries, and bier are offered. But chatting with the chef and the eclectic decor brought us in the door. His spin on Flemish stew, prawn soup, ribs, and bier pairing did not fail. The mouth watering seasonings, simple presentations, and attentive service kept us indulging for hours! Deep, rich sauce perforated the perfectly tender beef chunks in Flemish stew (neighboring eaters promised the Flemish stew with fish was also excellent). The ribs were wonderfully seasoned (Spanish rub? South American peppers?) and filling. All I can say is this restaurant is a must when visiting Bruges. I will be back.

We stumbled across this small restaurant in a side street, not far from the centre. The atmosphere was good. We had fish stew and ribs which were both delicious. We were offered wine which was charged at 1€ per cm! Average bottle is 20cm. Would recommend this restaurant.

We went last week and would thoroughly recommend. Don't be put off by the outside appearance, which doesn't look very inviting. Inside the welcome is very warm and friendly. the food was excellent and wholesome - we had the rabbit and the Belgian stew which were both excellent. The portions were enormous - so much so that we couldn't eat a dessert. However we stayed having a few drinks and our host kindly gave us free desserts to share - crime brûlée and chocolate mousse which were both light ( ideal after a large main course) and absolutely delicious. A great experience, really good value food and well worth a visit.
