My wife and I were visiting Bruges for a special birthday weekend. We wanted to find a really special restaurant for the Saturday evening so asked a local resident where she would chose to eat. She recommended le chef et moi for both quality and value. We had a wonderful evening. The building, the ambiance, the food, the service, the choice, the attention to detail, the music, the value etc etc. it was a perfect evening, one of the nicest restaurants we have ever eaten in. Perfect, mark and tarah

Excellent little restaurant in the centre of Bruges. The menu is pretty small but every single dish is excellent. We had fish and beef fillet which were very tasty and perfectly cooked. Those who want to be able to eat anything anywhere might not be fond of it, but those who have good taste should definitely enjoy the experience.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. It wasn't particularly busy but it was quite a cold evening in March. Three of the four of our party went for the set menu. I had a beef carpaccio to start with and then skate for a main course, which I wouldn't usually choose normally but it was lovely. My husband had the cauliflower, shrimps, sorrel and cream which was beautiful. His main was the Irish filet (beef) which he said was cooked to perfection. The desserts were all excellent. Although we all had 3 courses, we didn't feel as though we had had too much to eat.

For some reason many of the better-known restaurants in Bruges shut on a Wednesday, so we searched out somewhere that was conveniently close to our hotel and looked more interesting than a burger joint. Happily we chanced on this place, a modest but clearly serious eatery. Our hopes were immediately raised while browsing the menu by the very good tomato and tapenade accompaniments for the equally good bread. To go with the competitively priced three-course deal we found a lovely white Côtes du Rhône by reliable maker which went beautifully with the crab, salmon tartare and guacomole starter as well as the main course of ray, new potatoes, mangetout, broad beans and mushrooms, both simple but really well cooked and presented. For dessert we had a very good pineapple pannacotta with red fruit and a more than acceptable crème brûlée, and finished off with good Belgian coffee. Very satisfactory!

My daughter and I just finished a most lovely evening at this gorgeous, classy restaurant. So very beautiful...candles everywhere. Caroline runs the front of the house, and was most accommodating to our extensive food allergies. Nothing was too much trouble for her...even making unsweetened iced tea! Bread was served with two lovely tampenades, which was followed by two wonderful, perfectly prepared mains. Having had a late lunch, we skipped the starters. Monk fish was heavenly and the veal was tender and most flavorful. After having spent a week in Paris at top dining spots, Le Chef et Moi came in at our #2 favorite spot on this trip...but by far, was number one in service. Thank you to both Caroline and the fabulous chef for a very special evening...simply amazing!
