“restaurant with a serious attitude”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

Arrived at this attractive restaurant at 6.30pm. We ordered fillet steaks and after an hour we still had not been served any food. Upon enquiring what had happened to the food we were told we would have to wait another ten minutes. There was no apology - in fact quite the reverse we were told 'what's the problem you are only waiting'. I have to say the food was fine but at 30 euros per steak I really do not feel that a little courtesy could have been offered. I would never return again to these very rude people and would not recommend this restaurant at all.

“Two Amazing People”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

We were totally charmed by this restaurant, which is among the most elegant in the beautiful town of Brugge.

What’s most extraordinary is that it truly is “Le Chef et Moi.” Its staff consists of just one chef and one server/hostess – a husband and wife team. We never met him, but Caroline was utterly charming and somehow manages a large room full of guests with calm and aplomb. We never felt ignored; in fact we were much better cared-for than in restaurants with large teams of out-of-sync waiters and waitresses.

All this wouldn’t matter if the food were not up to par. But it was sophisticated cuisine that held its own against the finest restaurants we’ve visited. My cod dish was flaky, beautifully prepared, and satisfying.

Heads up, Michelin – this place deserves some stars.

“An unsung hero - Absolutely Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Not sure why this is not in every guide-book. We were just wandering in the streets and were charmed by its name and the menu. The huge chandelier visible from outside beckoned us to step in. We were welcomed by a huge birdcage at the entrance and led to a huge dining hall with an elegant decor. We thought it was a private house until we were able to locate the one waitress busy serving everyone. Food options are limited but each item on the menu is excellent. We started with prawn tebouleh and sole fillets and had brill and cod for the main course. The dessert was great too. We were in Bruges only for one night otherwise I would have come back again to try rest of the items. The hostess (I forgot her name) was very friendly.

“Captures the essense of beautiful Bruges”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2012

The setting is delightful and elegant. The atmospher relaxed and unpretentious. Food...well just fabulous. It's the sort of restaurant that captures the beauty of the city while catering to locals and tourists who want something a little special but without pretention.

“Great Service, Room And Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

This lovely restuarant has a lot of style, and is located near the heart of the beautiful town of Brugge. Elegant chandeliers hang in a dining area that is quite large, but divided into three more intimate areas.

We had the set menu. We started with baby lobster, in its shell, served with a lightly creamed tarragon sauce. The main was a cod filet, served on a bed of cloud-like potato mash. Dessert for me was a delicious slice of apple pie, my partner had the bavarois.

We took a half carafe of the Argentinian white, which was excellent. Naturally there is an extensive wine list if you would prefer, from wines from all over the world.

The woman who served us was friendly, helpful and efficient and nothing was too much trouble, even though she was the only one serving - all one could hope for!

We would recommend this restaurant if you are staying in Brugge.
