My wife and I stayed here during our holiday in Brugge over the new year. It is such a warm and inviting place - ideal for relaxing and enjoying a quiet time. Right on one of the canals and central to all of the best sights. The food was outstanding and the hospitality amazing. We would recommend it to any traveler for any length of stay. Amazing!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect: quiet, romantic and right in the heart of Bruges. Everyone was so lovely and thoughtful ( little chocolate presents and breakfast on a trolley in the room). We loved it so much we want to celebrate our first anniversary by coming back.

We couldn't have imagined how excellently every detail was managed at this beautiful property. The garden courtyard is quiet and inviting. The house is lovingly kept up. It is old and romantic but has every modern amenity you would expect in any hotel. All renovations seem to have been done very well. Tina and Luc are the icing on the cake. Taking care of details like delicious Belgian beer on arrival, building fires in the fire place, lighting candles and leaving us fun delicious chocolates.
The breakfasts are first rate and very generous. Elegant and delightful. We hope for an opportunity to return!

My mate and I used miles for our Paris trip and could only fly in and out of Brussels...so we added two nights in Bruges to our holiday and I couldn't be happier we did.

You see, we were, well, sad to leave Paris. We'd had such a wonderful time in a darling apartment on the Ile St. Louis. How could Bruges live up to that?

Enter Canal Deluxe B&B. Wow. Whoa. From the minute we walked in the door to the last, weepy moment we left, it was truly magical. I had high expectations from the photos and reviews - all of 'em were met, and more.

First, I should say that the December weather was crisp and clear - ideal for our strolling and sipping style. And the backdrop of Bruges in winter? Perfect.

Our room (room? that's not quite right - it was way more than just a room) was three stories with super tasteful decor that mixed eras in all the right ways. A giant cozy fireplace with comfortable chairs - spent a good amount of time reading in front of it. The clawfoot tub in the basement with plenty of hot water and bath salts. The exceptionally comfortable king size bed on the third floor (I so miss that bed after only two nights). The beams, bricks, circular staircase, wood floors, stone...all authentic, and immensely appealing.

Then there was the food and treats. GREAT beer and chocolates upon arrival. Delicious breakfast, delivered on a little cart by Tine, who also lit the fire so when we finally dragged ourselves out of bed it was warm and happy in our little living room. CAKE set out in the afternoon - which we enjoyed on the little garden by the canal despite it being winter (red wine and chocolate cake by the peaceful canal? yes please!). And even a packed snack for our early morning departure.

I can't say enough about how much we loved this great place. I'm sure there are other lovely places in Bruges - but I'll never want to stay anywhere but here. Space, ambiance, all the little things...a magical visit that we'll never forget.

Room Tip: We liked Euphrasie - the tub, and outdoor canal access MADE the experience

Tine and Luc are fabulous and genuine hosts, and their knowledge of and passion for their community is wonderful. We absolutely loved our weekend stay, from the locally-made welcome chocolates (yum!!!) to the sumptuous, fresh breakfasts to the gorgeous suite (we stayed in the one without the canal terrace, but it was lovely!) and daily Nespresso from our own machine. Bruges is a perfect romantic weekend spot and Canal Deluxe is the perfect retreat.
A note on the town itself: We recommend the local bar one street away that is open late (not everything is) and doesn't cost your monthly mortgage for a nice nightcap. Shocking prices everywhere for meals, and I'm talking everything from a local cafe where average vegetable soup was 14 euros (with NO BREAD! ha, that was extra) to Michelin starred places -- all bizarrely high prices relative to quality. After trying 5 exceptionally well-reviewed restaurants, 3 of which were recommended by friends as well, we were sorely disappointed. The food is not BAD, per se, just terrible value. The best we found was probably Park Restaurant (not surprisingly, it's also number 1 on trip advisor) but again, if you're used to world-class culinary experiences you'll probably be somewhat disappointed food-wise, most especially when you see the bill. Luc mentioned something about a high tax on food, so perhaps that's it. I honestly don't know what students or people on a very restricted budget would do here. Even the 'cheap' places recommended in guide books were over 30 euros a head all in!
Anyway, back to Canal Deluxe - a complete gem, in a lovely, stunningly-beautiful and walkable city. Very close to everything by foot, great value for money and completely unique - you won't regret booking here!

Room Tip: Both rooms are incredible. The most popular room has a canal-side terrace, which sounds lovely in th...

This was one of the best Bed & Breakfast / hotel stays I've ever stayed in. The cottage we had booked were just so cosy, with a roaring fire, THE COMFIEST BED and in a superb quiet location. Close enough to everything but nicely tucked away. Next thing to say is the breakfasts were second to none, we definitely did eat breakfast like kings. Perfect and lovely hosts who were very accommodating. Beautiful, stylish and cosy...didn't want to leave

We took a train from London to Brugge. On the ride we heard French being spoken by most so when we arrived I was certain to great the van (cab) driver with, "Bonjour!" attempting to be polite. Shortly after getting in the van he heard us speaking English and asked me why I had spoken to him in French (it was really quite humorous). Ah Belgium... where you can't be certain what language to choose from but there is a good chance they speak whatever you choose.

We arrived at the front of the home greeted by a home built in 1677 in the Belgian style. It's fantastic. Immediately upon ringing the bell, we heard Seppe. Seppe is a the family dog. A Jack Russel Terrier that is terribly sweet but willing to put on the Jack Russel Terrorist display if you try to take his toys from him. He loves tug of war, or just sitting in the sun and being loved. As a dog owner, I relish the time that I get to pet a dog while we are out travelling. But I digress...

The abodes are separate from the main home. They are set back against the canal and let me say, I found them to be perfect. Each floor is small but in the cozy perfectly sized for a couple way. In the morning when you receive breakfast you'll find a fire lit along with a fantastic meal that is very European with meats, bread, marmalade and yogurt. Up the spiral stairs you'll find a bedroom with a exposed wood constructed ceiling. It's just perfect. Down the spiral twice and you'll find a bathroom. The downside to this is even after a couple of Belgian beers these stairs will require some attention.

The personal details and small touches are really what make this place stand out and shows Tina's professionalism. When we went out in the evening, we would come back to find dessert waiting for us, the radio on, the lights on low and generally felt pampered. We've enjoyed a few great places around the world but Tina's attention to the details stand out as the best for me bar none. She has thought of everything a reasonable person could want. Don't take that as a challenge.

Go and enjoy this fantastic little bed and breakfast. It was a central part of why Brugge is at the top of our list of favorite places.
