“Perfect hotel for a weekend Bruges!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

We stayed here beginning of September 2013. We had a 3-persons room which had enough space for 3. Nice and modern bathroom with seperate toilet. All furniture trendy and in nice colours. Breakfast is 20 euro, expensive but certainly worth the money. Big buffet. All areas nice and clean. Friendly staff.

We stayed at this hotel 04.09.13 - 08.09.13. The rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable with good toiletries, so no need to waste baggage allowance on shampoo etc. There is also a hair dryer in the room. The breakfast was really good - all that you would want from a buffet breakfast. It was kept full of fresh fruit, continental style and cooked food. The staff were helpful and friendly. It was close enough to see all of the popular sights, but far enough away from the centre to be peaceful. It is a 15 flat minute walk from the train station and quite easy to find.
We went to Charleroi airport and it is quite a distance from Bruges. You will need to get to Brussels by shuttle first. It cost 17 euros per person each way, but you can share a group taxi that will cost 13 - 15 euros per person. This is arranged by the taxi drivers, not the information centre. To travel from Brussels, you will need to get the train. The cheapest way we found was to buy a 10 trip ticket that cost 76 euros. That will give you 10 trips on any train line, and more than 1 person can travel on the same ticket at the same time.

Room Tip: Our room was ideal, and to be honest, they were probably all the same. The hotel is in a quiet part...

Room was nice and large with Queen bed plus a sofa bed, so was quite spacious compared to other European hotel rooms. The toilet was separate to the bathroom which I liked too.
Staff were helpful and provided city maps.
Breakfast was not included in my rate, so didn't eat here. Supermarket was just across the road so I could grab some snacks and something for breakfast.
Location was quite good. Was about 10-15 minute walk to the Square and to the Burg, however it was a lovely walk with plenty to see. It was close to many attractions. A short 10 minute walk to the train station.
Can get a canal ride just a couple of hundred metres up the road.
I would have liked to stay a little closer to the square, or perhaps in a hotel that overlooked a canal, however I wanted a more modern, larger room so went with the Novotel.
Overall Novotel was good value for money in this charming city.

First of, id like to say that hubby and I enjoyed Brugge and this hotel contributed to it by starting off our day with good buffet breakfast selection. Its a mixture of american and continental breakfast. Staff were friendly and rooms are clean. The hotel is just few minutes away from the train station and is just walking distance from its cbd and near some of the tourist areas.
Nearby the hotel are lots of shops that sell mostly souvenir items and chocolates. A few restaurants are also close to the hotels.
One minor negative review on this hotel would be on how the tv in the room is placed. It is located on one of the corners of the room which is not adjacent to the bed, so watching tv is a bit of annoying and add the fact that the only english channels are the news channels. They show english shows but they changed the voice into their own dialect and the subtitles too are not in english and the remote doesnt allow you to change them in english. Luckily they offer free internet (even if the signal was bad and connection was very slow), otherwise no entertainment inside the room.
Overall we will still recommend this hotel for its value and location.

I stayed in this hotel on 22nd August for 2 nights with my partner and parents and we had a lovely time.

The hotel is in a great location, it is off one of the main roads from the Medieval Hospital and is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the main market square and cathedral. The main street outside the hotel is bursting with lovely little chocolate shops and cafes, all very reasonably priced! There is also a Carrefour store opposite the hotel so very convenient for picking up bottles of water for the room etc.

The hotel itself is very clean and tidy and the staff we very polite and helpful at all times. The rooms were basic but cosy, but as there is so much to do in Bruges we hardly spent anytime in the room anyway! We stayed on a room only basis so did not try the food, although on the day we checked out we looked to see if we could get a bite to eat in the Restaurant but it was so expensive compared to the cafes we just went out instead.

Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a cheap cheerful stay in Bruges.
