This hotel is excellent, staff are very friendly, breakfast, a good variety, we didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as did not appeal to our taste, but it seemed busy every evening. Check in & out, efficient, with a welcoming smile.

Room Tip: Excellent room, clean, & the heating works, only problem restriction on the tea & coffee lef...

My wife and I and two friends have stayed in the Ibis on several occasions - but this year when we wanted to travel there was "no room at the inn" so to speak so - and as a result we stayed in the Novotel instead. More costly but better facilities and as good - value for money wise - as the Ibis.

Ideally situated, only a few minutes walk from the centre and with a great selection of restaurants all around - not just the standard Bruges tourist fare.

The family rooms work for us as there is a sofa bed with a separate truckle underneath so siblings have one bed each. There is also a small fridge (great for keeping Belgian chocolates and fresh milk from the Carrefour Express across the road). It was sunny so we even tried out the pool. It says it is heated but that wasn't our experience!

Breakfast is also great - typically a bit of a scrum at peak times but dishes were replenished very frequently and there was a huge variety. if you have small children you might want to keep them away from the kids' breakfast table which offers a selection of Smarties, chocolate sprinkles and sugared cereals and chocolate Rice Krispie bars. There were several small children carried away smartly during our few days there when a combination of these things, followed by pancakes and maple syrup or "bacon and sausage like Daddy!" led to cries of "I feel sick!!".

Car parking underneath the hotel was easy and convenient and the rooms were generally quiet - but you might want to specify a top floor room to avoid small children sounding like they are dancing on your head in the early mornings.Getting the shower to activate can also be tricky - ask for a spare towel to hold on and pull out the metal fitting and don't expect kids to do this unaided.

Room Tip: Noise is greatest from rooms above you - go for the highest floor possible to avoid this.

Accor, the parent company of Novotel have decided to replace the china cups in their rooms with cardboard ones. The hotel is great, well located and service is very good. Then they spoil it all with a cheap shot like that. I suspect Accor/Novotel management don't use their own facilities because if they did, they would get short shrift from their wives and partners! All the families we met remarked on it - such a trivial thing yet a perfect indictment of their management attitude. As frequent business visitors, we used Novotel for years but now my wife has totally dismissed them.

Excellent location and a convenient and cheap car park next door. (Though we arrived by train so not needed) Hotel is set back from main road so little traffic noise.
Hotel is modern and clean looking lines with an attractive courtyard area between this hotel and its sister the Ibis. Reception staff could be more cheerful and attentive but they were efficient.
Room was as expected for a Novotel, clean and comfortable though the artwork was so disappointing and you could have been in a Novotel anywhere in the world. Given how beautiful the City of Bruges is you would think that they might make the effort to show photographs or even better local paintings by local artists. Certainly there were many examples of talented artists in various outdoor markets in the City. The bathroom and separate toilet were spotlessly clean and the cleaning staff were particularly friendly and cheerful as indeed were the staff in the restaurant at breakfast. Something the reception staff could learn from and emanate. Others have mentioned the paper cups instead of proper cups for coffee or tea. A very silly and annoying economy but easily resolved by taking two cups and saucers from the breakfast area. I am pleased to say they were not taken away each day but rather cleaned if we had forgotten ourselves. Good speed free wifi as all hotels should be but sadly often are not.
The bar area was reasonably comfortable but lacked atmosphere though the staff were mostly helpful and friendly.
