“What a wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2006

I am really fussy about hotels and through a very careful selection process using Tripadvisor I have been able to find some truly wonderful places to stay.

Hotel Heritage was absolute perfection throughout. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite which, because it was our 10th Wedding Anniversary, made the occasion even more special. We had room 42 at the top of the building looking out over rooftops with all the comforts imaginable. Also we had the added surprise of a bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

All the staff were polite and welcoming and obviously enjoy working there. They all speak excellent English by the way.

Everywhere was immaculately clean and tidy, we had valet parking in a secure car park next door which is a real bonus in a place the size of Bruges, and the breakfast was absolutely superb with a wonderful spread of bacon, eggs, sausages, cold meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, different breads, fruit juices etc etc. and the mushrooms were to die for.

Bruges is a truly beautiful place but this hotel made it an anniversary to remember. I couldn’t rate it more highly.

Just came back from a truly magical time in Brugge. Loved the Hotel Heritage ! Best part was the ideal location, right off the market square and walking distance to one of the best chocolate shops in Brugge, Dumon. Also many wonderful bakeries and restaurants nearby. Room was modern, sparkling clean and beds were comfy. The addition of fresh fruit and a morning weather report slipped under our door were nice touches! Would highly recommend this property and would definitely return if ever in Brugge again. Hotel staff was also very helpful and courteous. My only gripe would be that the room size was not big with the addition of a cot for our son, but, wasn't really that big of an issue as we didn't spend all that much time in the room.

p.s. make sure you are there on a Wed for market day

Spent a long weekend in September 2006 at this hotel. It is very central but quiet and has a very welcoming staff who cannot do enough for you. The breakfast was excellent. Rooms were clean, well decorated and peaceful. Many plus points including a weather forecast slipped under the bedroom door each morning, provision of umbrellas if required. and a TV with DVD player in each room. Fluffy bathrobes and a great selection of toiletries were provided in the bathroom.

my wife and i stayed at the heritage on a 4day break
18thseptember to 22nd september
we had read previous comments about the hotel
all of which were wonderful and we were not disappointed.

everything about this family run hotel is high class
the room we booked was standard but for a small supplement
we upgraded to a deluxe and it was just that deluxe very spacious
and the bathroom was huge and plenty of space in the kingsized bedded room

if you have booked this hotel you wont be disappointed
we are definately going back there again

The Heritage is definitely a 4 star property - not sure why it is called 3 star by TripAdvisor. The price is reasonable for the quality of the property. We were booked into a superior room that was beautifully appointed, had luxurious bedding and linens and had a nice view over the adjacent rooftops to the clock tower on the south side of the market square.

The front desk staff was very helpful, as were the owners. We rented the hotel's bicycles for an easy cycle along the canal to nearby Damme for lunch, and enjoyed the hotel's quiet location yet close proximity to everything. Everything is in easy walking distance.

The cab from the train station was about 8 euro. We opted for the bus back to the station (1 euro each) since the bus stop was right around the corner... faster than calling a cab.

The breakfast buffet was beautiful, as was the dining room, and the 15 euro price, while high for US standards, was typical of what we saw in Europe. We only did it for one morning as we don't do dairy, and it was at least half dairy-based products. (Very hard to find soy milk other than in stores on this trip.) The other mornings, we went to the Prestige bakery just around the corner (east, then a little south) which was wonderful and inexpensive.

There is free internet in the lobby, but each room has its own LCD computer for internet access at a very low rate. I bought just a 2 hour password for 2 euros (same as internet cafes) ... but was surprised to find that it was not 2 continuous hours, but 2 total hours of access... so was able to log off and on several times to use up the time. Wish I had known, as I would have just bought some time when we first checked in.

I highly recommend the Heritage. If we return to Brugge, I would definitely stay again.

The Hotel Heritage (formerly called the 'Hansa', which is why it may not appear on older maps) is just a couple of minutes' walk from the main market square (Markt) in Bruges. Inside it's bright and relatively contemporary, yet with a feeling of history as well. We stayed in a 'superior' room which was a decent size with an above-average double bed. The front desk staff all spoke excellent English (which was a relief, because my Dutch - or is it Flemish? - was virtually non-existent) and were helpful & friendly. There's no kettle in the room for tea or coffee (although there IS complimentary fruit and chocolate), but the minibar and room service are sensibly priced. Incidentally, we booked directly with the hotel online - their last-minute price was cheaper than any of the other online agencies. The hotel is small enough to care about each of its guests - and it shows. I'd happily stay there again.

We couldn't ask for better accommodations. Our room was tastefully decorated and very clean with a fresh bowl of fruit set out for us every day. Each morning we would order coffee to be sent to our room, and each morning we looked forward to seeing what Belgian chocolates (complimentary) they would surprise us with. Our room faced the street, but it was very quiet and had a great view. The receptionists were very helpful and very polite. This hotel sets a standard that other European hotels will be hard to match.
