“Romantic & Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The owner of our B&B recommended Brasserie Raymond during our stay in Bruge. We ate there Tuesday, October 23rd and it was a memorable meal. The service was excellent and the complimentary bread and pate was a great start. We had a hard time choosing what to eat, but kept coming back to the Chateaubriand. It was fabulous and cooked and served perfectly! The waiter helped with our choice of a bottle of wine and we even managed to save room for dessert! It was the most expensive meal we had in Bruge, but the most memorable and romantic. I would recommend it to all my friends and family travelling to Bruge.

“Splash out on the Chateaubriand!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

We visited Brasserie Raymond last Saturday and had a great night. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and catered for couples, small groups as well as larger parties. We chose not to have starters as we were saving ourselves for our Chateaubriand and this was definitely a wise choice, although we did give in and have some of the complimentary bread and pate. This was my first experience of Chateaubriand and I was not disappointed. The meat was cooked perfectly and sliced in front of us, and was served with chips, mixed vegetables as well as bearnaise sauce. We chose a bottle of Bordeaux from the extensive wine menu which was also very good. Unfortunately we were so full after the steak that we had no room to try one of the delicious-looking puddings! Overall we had a great night - the service, food and ambience were all very good. The only negative was the price as it is not one of the cheapest places in Bruges (€90 for two people) but for a special occassion it is worth it and you get lots of steak for your money!

“Tasty, excellent service and very central”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012 via mobile

We picked this brasserie from a list given to us by our receptionist at our hotel. It was in the 'mid to high' price range in the list and was described as authentic. The interior is very cosy and welcoming, service quick but not too in your face and the food delicious. I had the rack of lamb which melted in the mouth, my boyfriend had shrimp croquettes followed by sole. Both dishes were well cooked and presented. We were also given a yummy free pate with butter and bread while we waited for our food. The restaurant was busy and lively and clearly a popular spot. Don't avoid it because it is very central and not hidden, because it is an obvious little gem which won't disappoint.

“Perfect Cozy Place on a Cold Night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We arrived somewhat late in Brugge and our gorgeous hotel (Grand Casselbergh) suggested the short walk to the Brasserie Raymond, a block off the market square, It was a cold night and raining heavily but we stepped into a warm, eclectic atmosphere. I kept thinking of Woody Allen's movie "Midnight in Paris" because that was how it felt.

The first young waitress did not think that they had Scotch and classified the wine as "red or white.". I was a bit concerned, The next server however was excellent. She poured a perfect Scotch and assured us that he wine "by the glass" was excellent.

We elected to have soup and an appetizer. The fish soup was terrific and the tomato soup with tiny meatballs was evn better. For the main course I had their pate which was outstanding. I observed that the man at the next table had ordered Osso Bucco and it looked excellent. He devoured everything on his plate!

I would describe this as a comfortable, high quality restaurant. Wide variety of dishes in a Gret atmosphere. Excellent value for the price which was under 100Euros including a gratuity.

Easy reccomendation.

“Amazing food in an amazing city!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

Went on the recommendation of a local. So pleased I did now as food was best I've had. Steak cooked to perfection, a large portion of sides and the best pâté I've ever tasted with bread included complimentarily.
Service was good, restaurant itself was very French/European looking. Not the cheapest of places but worth it for such good food. Would definitely go back.
