“If you like your chicken raw, dine here!”
Reviewed July 12, 2011

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel we stayed at, having been told to avoid the main square.

Starter was tomato soup and meatballs which was nice.

Main course was chicken with pasta in a pesto sauce. About half of the pieces of chicken were undercooked and at least 1 piece was raw! I mentioned to the waiter that the dinner was undercooked and to be fair offered to have it cooked further but having almost eaten raw chicken had no further appetite.

I asked for a reduction off the final bill but none was offered, only a drink offered. After my stomach being practically turned I did not want to stay in the restaurant. Considering I paid full price for a non existent meal which was reasonably expensive for the area, I would warn people not to dine here unless they want raw food!

“A true and comforting brasserie experience.”
Reviewed April 3, 2011

We were concerned about ending up in a typical tourist venue, so asked our hotel for some recommendations. I'm very glad they pointed us in this direction as we experienced a thoroughly satisfactory evening. Following a couple of very cold local beers to wash down the rillette and crusty bread we chose a mixture of brasserie classics and popular local dishes. Everything seemed fresh and well prepared, the highlights being an Asparagus and Ham starter and some delicious pan-fried small soles.Service was attentive and friendly and the wines were good and reasonably priced. All in all a true and comforting brasserie experience.

“Belgian Brasserie Classic”
Reviewed March 6, 2011

A restaurant with a long history, but not always a good one. However, let's give the new guys a chance. I always liked the simple classic brasserie interior, which the new owners have not changed. It always was and still is one of a kind in Bruges.
We were there on a Saturday night with a party of 4. Although the restaurant was pretty busy the welcome was professional. Specials on the blackboard and a substantial menu to make the choice difficult. Our party choose a mix of classic Belgian brasserie dishes and things that looked more sophisticated. First conclusion: go for the classics. The chef knows how to prepare them. However, he should show some restrain. One who orders grey shrimp crocettes as a starter does not want a vegetable garden to go with it. The lobster and other expensive seafood was disappointing in view if the price and promise.
Conclusion: restaurant with a unique interior for Bruges, good service and a good atmosphere. Up to the chef to make the kitchen deliver on the promise of a brasserie.
