I recently visited this restaurant with a couple of friends, we had a great night, we kept winding up the owner asking if he was welsh and he joined in and made the evening quite a good laugh. The best thing about this restaurant is the quality of the food, I had the best steak I have ever had it was cooked to perfection, one of the ladies had a goats cheese salad and that was also delicious, the owners wife cooked all the meals to order we didn't mind waiting at all as it was worth the wait. We thought she did a great job. If you want a good meal its a great place to eat. we were just walking by and got a table which was lucky really, but I imagine at some point you will always have to book.

A rainy holiday night, some restaurants closed and others fully booked, tempted us to dine at a very pleasant looking restaurant with a South African theme - not something we would generally do in Belgium! Interestingly, they don't open until seven, when many other places are already busy, and they only accept cash, which also happens in a few other restaurants here.

The entrees of trout salad and corn fritters were really delicious, and presented with flair and imagination, the skewer of prawns were excellent and well accompanied by some piri piri. The meat in the Boboti was a little dry, but the sauce made up for it.

The restaurant is small but there is no sense of your space being crowded, and while some reviewers enjoyed their repartee with the owner, be warned that he too like the piri piri is an acquired taste that could become overpowering! So, encourage him at your own risk.

This restaurant deserves to have better patronage than it seems to get, which is possibly because of its theme and opening time. The food, and relaxed and calm atmosphere make it worth a visit.

Wow, is all I can say. The person who served us was very welcoming, remembering us as having booked earlier as soon as we walked in, by name. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. it is a great mix of what you'd expect, with a African twist. The Prawn Soup was to die for. The Impala skewers - amazing. All three of us really enjoyed a memorable night. The only wrinkle was the price, but as I said, it was the most amazing food.

A South African themed restaurant with a gregarious server married to a world-class chef occupies a small nook just off the Berg and a block from Crowne Plaza Hotel. She prepared toned-down Boer food while he entertains the guests and dispenses humour.
The food and bar drinks were outstanding. The wine list could use a little work. But we left quite happy and would have patronized Baobab a second night had they been open.

Truly authentic South African decor and menu, all very quirky and fabulous (felt like home).
It was hard to choose from a mouth watering menu, but in the end couldn't resist the kingklip (fish) which is a rarity in Europe. The food was absolutely delicious and although we waited a long time for each course, it was worth the wait.
Good value for money and some fantastic South African wines to choose from.
Definitely worth a visit.
