the local trains are very easy to use and the coast is very near, Blankenberg has a lovely sandy beach and lots of food outlets , the flats backing the beach are not pretty though. Knokk has "posher" shops and food outlets and the buildings are a bit better, the beach is amazing lovely sand and lots of lovely while beach huts.

A lovely way to see parts of the old city of Brugge from a horse drawn carriage. It has a short stop to rest the horse in front of the convent that you can go visit. Starts and stops at the main market place surrounded by lots of restaurants.

We have now been to Bruges several times and it still remains on the top of our "Must Visit" cities whenever we are in Europe. It is old, quaint, picture postcard perfect and and any of the other over used descriptions of European cities. Except in this case, they are all true!

Be sure and spend at least a couple of days. Stroll the streets, take a canal tour, take a horse carriage ride, stop in any of the chocolate shops, beer bars and on and on and on....! There is so much to do in such a small place. The people are wonderfully friendly and helpful and we don't think you can find a bad place to eat.

If we sound in love with Bruges, it's because we are. Just read the other reviews, then, spend a day or two here and we're sure it will become your favorite city too!

We took the city bus tour with a driver who obviously and done this trip far to many times!! Although he was friendly enough he did nothing to enhance our tour of the city! The recorded info was quite good and doing the tour gave a good idea of the location of most of the "Things to see and Do".

I travelled to Bruges with a friend on a day trip on a coach, and was not sure what to expect as I thought it would be a long day. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every bit of it. Bruges is easily reached via the Channel Tunnel. Just 35 mins takes you into Calais. From here it’s about 1.5 hours drive into Bruges. We were dropped off by some parkland (the toilets are available here if you have (like me) been avoiding the use of the coach toilet. By the way the toilets in Bruges are exceptionally clean and the charge for one admission is around 20p. Well worth the charge as you go in and come out feeling refreshed and not with that nausea feeling. You walk through the parkland onto the other side which literally takes you into the centre of town. Nice, pleasant scenery as you walk across the canals. The first bridge brought us on to “the lake of love” (so called due to the idyllic surroundings). We then walked across the bridge, turned right and arrived at the Flea Market by the canal. Here you can also book a boat which shows you the town in half an hour. The cost is around 7.60 Euros. Walk through the flea market and take the first left turn and a short walk will take you into the main square, past some wonderful chocolate souvenir shops. Very tempting handmade chocolates and some real nice shops selling lace etc. Bruge has 2 squares – the largest one is the Market Square and the 2nd square is the Burg. Some wonderful buildings are found here. Market square is the commercial centre of the city. Situated here is the Belfry tower & the Cloth Hall. On the northern end is the Provincial Court. There are plenty of cafes in and around the square. Don’t forget to try the chips from one of the mobile units costing 2.75 Euros for a large portion (trust me they do taste much better than any McDonalds or Burger King!) You can also take a horse carriage ride from here costing 10 Euros. You can also hop on to one of the yellow buses marked “tourist bus” which takes you around town. The Square is a perfect place to start and end the day in Bruges. There is no time to get bored. So if you are thinking of a day in Bruges go ahead and try it! Just make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes on to tackle the cobbled streets.
