Delicious traditional Flemish stew. Huge portions, great service. Highly recommended. A little off the beaten path but worth the short walk.

Thank Mark L

Four of us were in Bruges over last week-end and walked out of our way one evening to eat in this restaurant which is near the moat.
It was definitely worth the stroll and is quirky, great food and wonderful Natalie looking after us. I would recommend booking at night as its quite busy. Upstairs is not an option if elderly or on crutches but Lowell level is also superb. Steps are steep. Food was excellent with an unusual, well thought menu and perfectly cooked. It has fish and meat to cater to everyone's needs and of course vegetarian. It's away from the meddling crowds and a couple behind us even got engaged while we were there....how romantic. Well done Natalie.

A delightfully cluttered room with lots of curios & old artifacts. Charming & helpful service, menu quite limited. Goat cheese salad was large but a little bland, Flemish beef (carbonnade) very thick and generous if a tad sweet for my taste , served with plenty of chips, which were very hot & fresh but not all that tasty, and a generous salad. There was a large pot for seconds, but it was too much for us. We couldn't manage dessert, and they were mostly ice creams anyway. Small selection of nice local beers. Dinner came to E70 for two, pretty average for Bruge, it seems.

We visited Pro Deo after having read the good reviews on Trip Advisor, and I'm so glad we did - it was excellent! We loved everything about this restaurant - it's quite small, only approximately 9 tables, but it's cosy, Natalie was charming and the food was excellent. We had the cheese croquettes, Flemish stew and scampi piri-piri, the portions are quite large and coupled with olives and fabulously soft bread, we were very full!

I booked online before we left home and it was full by the time we left, so it's best to make a reservation

We opted for the €25 set menu and weren't disappointed. Their croquettes were beautiful. Not too cheesy but nice and creamy.
With only 2 options for a main that might be a mark against some restaurants but both were very good.
The Flemish goulash was hugely tasty and there was an extra 'arm' (pot) as well as coming with fries.
The Steak tartar was melt in your mouth although it could have been seasoned slightly better.
Very knowledgeable waitress who was able to advise on beers and other points of interest in Bruges.
