We booked the Grand Hotel Casselburg after looking through dozens of reviews for hotels in Bruges. We wanted a central hotel that was close to the tourist attractions and the Casselburgh can't be beaten for this; it is a two minute walk from the Burg with it's historic buildings and museums. Our first impression of the hotel was positive after a cheery greeting from the reception staff. Our room, (307) was in the annex and was above our expectations; it was exceptionally clean and this standard was maintained throughout our stay. The room was spacious with the bathroom being well laid out and luxurious; the toiletries were of a good quality, L'Occitane, and they were replenished every day. Breakfast was again good quality with plenty of choice for all tastes. We reserved a car park space at 25 euro per night but our arrival coincided with a car free day in the city so we parked in the station car park. To our amazement we found this was only 3.5 euro per night so left the car there for the duration of our 4 night stay. When we visit Bruges again we will definitely stay at the Casselburg.

Room Tip: The annex is a modern building if you want a bit of history and quirkiness reserve a room in the mai...

Now this is a romantic spot! Beautiful grand entrance. The many sitting rooms are well decorated and walls full of paintings, photos and nice furniture. It is nice to just sit and have a late afternoon coffee and read a book...Perfect after a long day of walking the city. The room we had, free upgrade to an executive suite was HUGE! First time we have been in a room with a 4.5 meter ceiling with a huge crystal chandelier! King sized bed was very comfy. Bath amenities were 1st class. Included breakfast was superb. The location is right smack in the middle of Brugge. Couldn't be nicer. A real deal at 148 EURO per night.

I booked the Grand Hotel Casselbergh based on the overwhelmingly favorable reviews here at TripAdvisor but I have to say when we got to our rooms, I experienced a bit of a let down. People wrote of marvelous old rooms with well appointed furnishings. That is not at all what we had. We had rooms in the newer section. They were very lovely rooms, very big (enormous by European standards) and comfortable, but they were not majestic old rooms as some of the reviews indicate.

All that said, however, the rooms were still extremely nice....it was the best hotel we stayed at our entire trip. And the price was quite reasonable for the quality of room and service provided. The location was perfect, right off of the main square housing the government buildings and the market square is just one tiny street beyond that. We were fortunate to be there on Market Day. The whole market square was full of vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, cheese, cooked meats, bakery goods and more. We had both breakfast and lunch from the vendors on that day (Wednesday).

Parking was an adventure. I had never been on an auto elevator before! We had a big car (a Euro Ford Galaxy Mini Van) but It all worked fine because my husband is a great driver. The parking area was immaculate.

Hopefully we will return to Bruges one day. It was absolutely delightful...and when we do come back, we will stay at the Grand Hotel Casselbergh again...because we couldn't have asked for more in a hotel (other than maybe on of those grand old rooms....). :)

We stayed 2 nights in Bruges. Hotel was in a fabulous location and we had a view of the Bell Tower from our window.
Interesting parking our car - we had a Mercedes Viano van which took quite a bit of manoeuvering into the lift for the car park. That's right - a small street, big car, into lift and then down 2 floors in the car lift and then trying to drive out of the lift at a tight angle to park in the car park.
Main city square was very close by - so we mostly walked everywhere.
Breakfast was on par with most hotels of this calibre.
Rooms with high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. A treat to come back to after touring and shopping.

A luxurious hotel right in the heart of Brugge. Loved the hotel, A grand entrance, and a huge space with massive chandeliers everywhere :). Very well decorated, very royal. Our room was in the new part of the hotel, and it was big!! for a european standard hotel and for the room tariff. Neat, modern and a big bathroom!. Extremely comfortable decor. The free breakfast was really good with a wide range of choices. The staff was friendly enough. I would recommend this hotel!

The hotel location is right in town and only a few minute walk to everything, including the market square. We had a room in the back of the hotel (I believe the newer addition) and it had a great view of the canal. The beds were very comfortable(not too soft or firm), room was clean, and bathrooms were large. The main bedroom is a little small if you are expecting a typical Western hotel sizes but for an inner city room it has everything you need. The bar area is nicely decorated and it is worth stopping in for a drink to enjoy. The front desk were helpful and called a cab to get back to the train station. The hotel is walkable from the train station but we had luggage and didn't want to walk a mile or so (don't know the exact distance). For all the hotels in the city center you probably would want to take the bus or taxi if you don't want to take luggage. We chose the taxi for convince it cost about £10 with tip and they drive wreckless. Coming from the US I can't believe how out of control taxis drive in a small city with pedestrians. This isn't the fault of the hotel just a downside to get into the center of town.

Stayed in a family room in the old part of the hotel, loft area with twin beds, amazing wooded beams, nice view, clean, great bathroom and the best breakfast Buffet EVER!!! Everyone left full and happy. We could leave our bags in a secure locked room after check out and there were several reception areas to relax in. I highly recommend this hotel, well worth the $400 for four (2 adults and 2 teenagers) for the night. Wish we had time to use the spa area downstairs...
