“Deserving of being #1”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Stay here for 2 days in July via Netherlands & Belgium trip. On this trip, we stayed at 3 separate b&b and by far, Huis Koning is superior above all others!

Lynn took very good care of us from the cleanliness of the house/rooms to the excellent spread she lays out every morning to the "surprise" goodies you find in your room after a long day.

Unlike other b&b, Lynn allowed us to utilized her kitchen for coffee/tea & homemade goodies on her kitchen table. After hours out & about, a nice pot of tea on her patio is a very nice way to end a day.

If I decide to travel to Brugge again in the future, I will definitely stay here.

From the greeting as we arrived and help with car parking, to the fond farewells 2 days later, everything was top class. After a welcome coffee and cake in the courtyard beside the canal, Lyn showed us to our first floor, street front room with its Vogue Living decor and let us settle in. A full sized bathroom was a welcome luxury when travelling, as we're the many extras that Lyn provides as can be seen on the website. We were there in the middle of summer so while sleeping without aircon was a challenge, the peacefulness of the area made up for it and sleep-ins were guaranteed. While the breakfasts, use of bikes, suggestions for tours, eating and drinking are all great, it is the special touch that this family bring to your stay. We booked in well in advance, (you need to) and so received a beautiful Christmas Greeting. We were sorry not to meet Peter and the children -maybe next time! The atmosphere of this B&B is amazing and that's what makes it special and for those not into atmosphere and ambience, well you will be impressed by the accommodation itself which is 5 star by any standard. Thank you and we hope to see you again.

Room Tip: Sure they are all great but its a choice between bathroom size and being street front or canal side.

This amazing bed and breakfast in beautiful Bruges with its artful décor was warmly hospitable. We stayed for two nights occupying two of the three rooms. My partner and I stayed in the St. Jacob room…overlooking rooftops to the church. The bathroom was small and compact but looked like something out of a HGTV special! The other room, Augustijn, was occupied by our friends. Their bathroom was a lot larger complete with shower over a luxurious tub and plenty of room for toiletries. They also seemed to have a little more room for their table and chairs. Entering their room was a little hallway lined with closets for clothes, the safe, the refrigerator, etc. whereas the closets in our room faced the bed. Excellent bedding and towels with l’Occitane soaps and lotions.

Accessing the rooms required steps up a shallow, narrow, and windy staircase, but thankfully all three rooms are on the second (American second) floor. Lynn or Peter handled the luggage upon our arrival and departure.

We were greeted by Lynn who promptly served each of us a beer. She pulled out a map, a guidebook to use during our stay, and her own restaurant and chocolatier recommendations. She mapped key sites on the map. Very helpful indeed! The breakfast for our two mornings could not have been any better: homemade jams and breads, pastries, homemade patte, fruit salad, eggs made to order, meats, organic yogurt, cereal, and freshly squeezed orange juice. One morning we ate outside by the peaceful canal; the other morning, a chilly one, we ate inside near the kitchen.

We could not have had a better experience with a hotel choice in Bruges. Thank you, Lynn and Peter, for a wonderful stay. A class act!

Room Tip: Although we didn't see all three rooms, I believe the Augustijn room is the largest and best for...

We stayed here in August 2012. Apologise for our late review.

From the moment you enter the candle lit hall and are greeted by Lynne and Peter you feel as if you have stepped into a lifelong friends home - instantly welcomed and relaxed. The atmosphere is indescribably warm and homely. Peter and Lynne have a beautiful home.

You are encouraged to treat House Of The Kings as you would your own home there is always hot coffee available along with Lynn's home baked goodies to help yourself too, Lynne is an amazing cook.

A notice board in the kitchen informs guests of the many interesting activities available in Brugge on any given day, wether it be the town festival, dancing in the market square, guided tours etc. Everything is within a short walking distance.

The beautiful exterior dinning terrace overlooking the canal is a beautiful place to sit and relax.

We had an amazing, enjoyable stay.

Thank you Lynne and Peter

Have recently spent 2nights with Linda at Huis Koning, it was just lovely, fab rooms immaculately clean with every thing that you need. The breakfast was really delish , Linda made homemade bread for each mornings breakfast and we sat out on the veranda next to the river. It was so perfect, having fab weather did help.we stuffed ourselves each morning washing it down with freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly ground coffee. The house was lovely so welcoming, we felt so at home
Thanks Linda for such a special time

I can only agree with the other reviewers that Huis Konig is simply the best in every way. Lynn has thought of every detail to make your stay a truly memorable one. Serving her guest is her passion and she shows it in every thing she does. She is an inspiration ... and a lovely person too. When we left, we felt we were saying goodbye to a friend. I hope we can return some day.

Everything about our stay at this beautiful B&B was first class, from the moment we arrived and were met by the wonderful Lynn & Peter, nothing was too much trouble, the attention to detail was impeccable and we couldn't ask for any more it had all been thought of. It was sad to leave but we loved it so much we booked it our stay for next year before we left!
