“Huis Koning - fantastic hosts and a beautiful place to stay”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

We can fully understand why this place has been rated as a top B&B to stay. We were blown away by the beautiful building which is tasteful decorated and our hosts Lynn and Peter were just so friendly and welcoming. We drank at some of the bars they recommended and ate at some recommended restaurants also, as well as things they suggested to do during the day.

We had booked the room overlooking the canal and found it to be a peaceful haven. Having homemade cakes and chocolate mousse to come back to after a hard day's sightseeing was joyful.

Breakfast was served in their gorgeous kitchen and there were lots of lovely items to choose from.

Would 100% recommend to others.

We hope to visit again soon.

I stayed here for three nights at the end of October with my sister. Firstly, let me say how beautiful Bruges is. We had unbelievable weather which added to our holiday. Bruge's streets are cobbled, which I hadn't known, so it is advisable to bring good walking shoes. Its a really beautiful town, with lovely shops, markets and restaurants, Try De Bottelier restaurant just around from Huis Koning, its very nice (I have reviewed it seperately).
So to our stay in Huis Koning with Peter and Lynn. It was fantastic! Everything you have read on tripadvisor is true, a beautiful home awaits you. And it is a home in every sense of the word and you are made to feel very much part of it.
We stayed in Ter Reie (be careful of the steps on entering the room) and it was lovely and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts too were gorgeous and having tea or coffee available to you anytime was a really nice touch. The stairs to the rooms are a little tricky and like another reviewer mentioned, might be difficult, if you had mobility problems.
We loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again as Lynn is such a lovely hostess, gracious and gentle. She makes everything seem so effortless.
Thank you Lynn and Peter for a wonderful stay in your lovely home.

I have nothing to add to prior reviews. The room we stayed is spotless. Lynn has made excellent breakfst as well as homemade treats. I just want to show my appreciation for hospitality and efforts by Lynn and Peter. I wish them best luck.

We truly enjoyed our 4 days in Bruges with Lynn and Peter at Huis Koning, and were sad when it was time to leave. Ours was the large room which doesn't have a canal view, but the extra space and big bathroom with a tub more than made up for it.
Lynn's breakfasts are amazing, as are the afternoon treats delivered to your room. We loved that coffee and tea are always available. Huis Koning is spotlessly clean. There was a small fridge in our room stocked with beverages ( same price as they are in the stores around the town), and a safe in the ample closet space. All rooms are on the same floor, and we were able to peek inside the other two after the guests had checked out. They were beautifully and comfortably decorated.
Huis Koning is a 10 minute walk to the center, and a 10 minute cab ride from the train station. Be aware that the stairwell to the rooms is tricky, so if you're handicapped, this could be an issue.

Room Tip: Check out their web site.

We stayed at this lovely little B&B in September. It is within walking distance to the centre of town, a secure parking garage and some of the best restaurants.
The charm of this B&B are the warm and friendly hosts Lynn and Peter. We arrived much earlier than scheduled and were greeted like friends. Peter offered us coffee, Lynn provided us with a map and directions to the parking garage and restaurant suggestions and we were on our way to a wonderful afternoon. Lynn graciously made all our dinner reservations for us. Each afternoon there was a special "treat in our room" apple muffins, chocolate chip cookies , Belgium chocolates!!! Coffee and tea were available in the kitchen.
We ate breakfast in their wonderful modern kitchen as it was too cool to eat on the lovely canal terrace. Fresh orange juice, Lynn's mothers home made preserves, eggs to order and an assortment of other breakfast foods.
Our room and ensuite bathroom were small but modern and impeccable with lovely linen, towels and bath products. Perfect for 2 nights.

Room Tip: If available choose a larger room.

This B&B is wonderful! Everything about our five nights in this place was fantastic. Lynn and Peter are fabulous hosts and made our stay very special. The location is excellent: it is about a 5 minute walk to the Markt (it sits North of there) and really is very central. Lynn serves an amazing breakfast - lots of local cheeses, game pates, pastries, home made jams and preserves, fruit, and home made waffles. Lynn also made us fresh orange juice each morning. The little breakfast room overlooks the beautifully serene canal outside, and on a hot day, the patio outside would be a perfect place to watch the wildlife on the canal.

Our room was a delight! The bed was comfortable, there was an area for reading and the bathroom was perfect. L'occitane products were a lovely surprise!

The loveliest part of the place for me was looking forward to the daily "treat" that was left for us in our room: sometimes a chocolate cookie, or sometimes a coconut macaroon. All hand made for us.

I cannot recommend this place enough. We will certainly be booking again if we are ever in Brugge again!!

Room Tip: The largest room overlooks a quiet street (this is the one we stayed in) - very quiet.

Despite staying only two nights in this lovely B&B it helped us to re-charge energy like two weeks holiday. All the previous reviews and comments on the house and owners are true. Lynn and Peter ares more than welcoming. They provide you with a lot of information about Bruges but on the other hand let you breat out. Just imagine, cold autumn weather outside, and you are sitting with a cup of coffee and a home made waffle in a warm kitchen looking through a french window to a canal where the colourful trees and neighbouring houses are reflecting in water....you definitely forget working-day problems.
The house is situated in the centre so it is very close to all the sights, restaurants, pubs, shops..If you drive there it is no problem to park a car close to the house free of charge. Altogether a stay where you find only pros and no cons.
