Owner description: The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

“B e a utiful”
Reviewed May 8, 2014 via mobile

Bruges has to be one of my favourite European cities.

The cobble stone roads and historic buildings really make you feel like your back in medieval times.

Hours can be spent wondering around the alleyways and finding beautiful sights.

In winter they have a nice little market and ice rink in the main square and in summer you can enjoy the alfresco dining in the magnificent square.

It is a must go :)

“Hodgepodge of architectural styles”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

It's best to go here with a local guide, who will point out all the little details that make this quaint town so interesting. Occasionally you will catch a whiff of baking Belgian waffles. Be aware that the genuine local mussels are only available from the months of June to August. Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, because the cobblestoned streets are rougher than what you may have encountered in similar old towns.

“Historic, picturesque, over-run with tourists (including us).”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

Small enough to walk and shop and see everything. Small enough that crowds of tourists (like us) are annoying but the historic buildings, lovely canals, and the cosy, quiet Number 11 B&B made it all worth while.
