Owner description: The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

Cobbled stones, medieval architecture everywhere it was like going back in time, so picturesque! Loved the waffles!

“Great for a short break”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Everything you are told about Brugge is true. It's lively but not noisy, safe but far from boring and everyone speaks enough English to get by. The centre is compact enough for you to get around on foot, but a canal trip is a 'must do' as you see the city from a different perspective. Take plenty of cash though as eating out in restaurants can be much more expensive than in UK. We nay well return (and we don't say that often).

“Lovely Brugge”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The historic centre is quite compact and it is easy fo find your way from one historical sight to the next. I would recommend that you wear good flat footwear as all the streets are cobbled.
We liked the canal boat trip.About 14 Euro for two adults for 1/2 trip.If you like churches do not miss the Church of the Holy Blood tucked away in the corner of the Burg. Easy to miss but well worth a visit. Note the times that you can actually see the vessel supposedly contaning the blood of Christ.
We went up the Clock Tower in Markt Square. Fairly straight forward until the last thirty steps and it is fairly steep at that point. The markt square restaurant are quite expensive but there are sandwich shops and 'burger vans' with very good quality snacks.

“Beautiful old town”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Loved the cobbled streets, the irregular layout with surprises around each corner, hundreds of well preserved old buildings, peaceful waterways. Hated the beer prices - €6 seems to be becoming the norm on mainland Europe. Meals pricey too.
