Owner description: The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

Although it was raining, the walking tour through the central city was a great way to learn about not only the city and its buildings, but also the Flemish history as well.

“The biggest little city in the world!”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

Bruges is not called the Venice of the North for nothing. We have travelled around the world and this gem of a city is well up there amongst the best! Take your time and stroll around the little side streets. You don't need a map as you can't get lost. If you like Belgian beer (and who doesn't?) there are plenty of bars to sit and watch the world go by. Likewise, their chocolate! Indulge yourself and buy some Leonidas chocolates. Bruges must be on your 100 places to visit before you die list.

“Beauty! History! AND a farmer's market!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We spent a week in Brugge in September, 2009. The historic center of the town charmed us completely. The city offices on the square surprised us - they were built post WWII, but they look as through they are medieval.

The square is surrounded by restaurants, but the best meals are, arguably, to be had from the food trucks. Awesome frites!

And, on Wednesday there is an incredible farmers market.

Walk a bit further and you can find the chocolate museum.... which is well worth spending a few hours in.

Go, enjoy, you'll be glad you did!

Not my first visit to this fantastic city, beautiful and spotlessly clean. Great food and beer although can be a little expensive but don't let this put you off...................a must visit if you have never been, if you have more than worth another trip!!

“Colin Farrell Was Wrong!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

If you ever saw the movie "In Bruges", and then visited the city, you would get what i'm saying. This town is likely the prettiest, romantic, gorgeous places on the planet, and we have been around. It puts Venice to shame, both for its attitude and beauty.
