Owner description: The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

Hard to know where to start, just love Brugge in the winter. The square is a great place to sit and people watch, there is an ice rink assembled over Christmas and a Christmas fair that is a little tacky to be honest. Lots of great bars and restaurants, really nothing negative to say about Brugge, lots of underground parking in the city centre if you drive there. Great base to explore the battlegrounds in the area, always take a poppy with us and place it in one of the cemeteries, very moving experience.

pretty square but had to get used to dodging bikes, cars, buses and horses! Didn't eat at any of bars here as tended to be over priced, whereas ones just a street away were friendlier and better value

Brilliant place, only spoilt a bit by the amount of Tourists (which of course we were adding to) but we went off season and it was still packed. One thing I will say, most places you go the waiters are very busy and a quite abrupt. Just take it in your stride as it's just the way they are. It's also worth exploring off the main square as that is where the most expensive places are for the least quality. Find a nice Itallian up an alley and you will be amazed at the difference in price and quality.

Loved the bars and lively open squares - a dutch band entertained in the Market Square on Sunday afternoon - they were brilliant! The canal boat trip, only took about 40 minutes, lovely, interesting and the rain didn't spoil it.

Absolutely stunning city centre, with cobbled streets, old buildings, monuments, canals, parks and everything you can imagine. You can enjoy it on foot (unfortunately most streets in the centre are open for motorists), you can enjoy it from above, climbing some 366 steps onto belfry (bell tower) at the main square, you can enjoy it from the water taking one of so many boat trips on city's canals (they all got the same route even if they start from different places spread all over the city). Whichever way you choose - be prepared to wait in long queues to get into any single attraction (or some shops), and you shouldn't think about getting anywhere at mid-day over the weekends, as waiting times to any attractions are just enormous! But happily most of mentioned queues are full with English tourists, so you wan't feel strange there!
