“Beyond our expectations!”
Reviewed June 5, 2011

Together with my boyfriend I spent 3 nights in this wonderful B&B last week. It was our first experience with a B&B and it left us very pleasantly surprised. The host is really friendly - he picked us up and drove us back to the train station when we needed it. Every morning he brought us freshly fried eggs, freshly made coffee/tea, freshly squeezed juice - exactly at the hour that we agreed for breakfast. Aside that he provided an astonishing amount of other delicacies - croissants, various types of bread rolls, Belgian cheese, what looked (and tasted) like home/countryside-made ham, fresh fruits, fresh jams, etc etc. He was very helpful with providing us with information, as well. The house itself is magnificent - one of the old (16th century) beautiful canal houses, which is located at a short walk distance from the centre, but at the same time remains quiet at night. We had a Louis XV room - with windows on the canal side, very comfy double bed (long enough for my tall boyfriend), little sofa under the window, own bathroom with a spacey shower, etc. It was all very elegantly decorated and very clean. The room was also very bright but had great set of shades which plunged it into darkness at night. From what I could see there were three rooms - each in different style and with different facilities but all in excellent condition. All in all - highly recommended.

We only spent one night in this B&B, but it was a wonderful place to stay. Great location in an old home on a canal. Wonderful hosts who truly care about their guests. And lots of options for rooms. The best room in at the front of the house and has its own bathroom. I highly recommend this place and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask if your room has its own bathroom.

This guest house was recomended to us by another nearby hotel because they were already fully booked. Luc and his wife (the owners) were more than helpful and really lovely from before we arrived and throughout our long weekend stay.

Luc picked us up from the station which was very welcome as we arrived late in the evening. Our room was beautiful and spacious with period decoration and furniture. We had two large windows overooking the canal and the other lovey surrounding buildings. Our room had a large double bed which was increadibly comfortable, a wardrobe, bedside tables, desk and chair, an armchair and a chaise longue. The only downside was that the en-suite shower room was a little bit cramped but did have a toilet, basin and shower cubicle. I believe there were two other rooms, one of which was the black and white room describd by the previous reviewer, the other was the family room. Everything was spotlessly clean.

When we arrived we were shown into the owners' own living room and they asked wha time we would like breakfast and what we would like, then shown our room and also the breafast room. They showed us that they even had some cold bottled of water and some cold beers in the fridge for us to take if we wanted! Breakfast was a delicious ham omelete, bread, cheese, jam, etc. with grapefruit (I think)tea (we could have had coffee but asked for tea) and fresh orange juice all served in the light and airy breafast room overlooking the garden.

The guest house is located very close to the centre of town, litterally 5 mins walk from the Burg square and a couple more to the main Market square. You actually travel past the guest house if you go on a canal boat trip.

Overall I can't recomend this highly enough as a place to stay if you are coming to Bruges. The owners are such a lovely couple and really want to everything they can to make your stay the best. The take a photo of all their guests and get them to write in their huge guest book before they leave do do take a look.

This is a lovely guest house (both inside and out) in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Bruges and situated in a quiet area on one of the town's beautiful canals.

My stay was in the aptly-named 'Black & White' room which is perfect for the solo traveller or couple. It is a lovely large room with a view over the garden. It included a bed, wardrobe, table and a huge separate bathroom with a bath, basin and toilet. A hairdryer was also provided (although it took me a while to find - it is in a box on the shelves..). It is worth noting that there is no shower in this bathroom and while the bath was nice it is a bit of a hassle and makes washing your hair more of a challenge than it needs to be. There appeared to be a shower available in the other room.

A plentiful and fresh breakfast is provided in the upstairs dining room, with eggs available on request.

The house also had a larger suite which accommodated 4 adults and 2 children during my stay.

The hosts are lovely and very helpful - they even arranged to meet me at the train station with my bags on the day of my departure so that I didn't have to lug my suitcase all over the place. I believe they also offer transport from your point of arrival.

If you are after mod cons this might not be the place for you - there is no TV in the room, and no phone or internet access - but it is spacious, clean and comfortable, in the perfect location and very good value.
