“Nicest restaurant in Bruges”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2011

Went here on the say so of the B&B owner and we couldnt have wished for more. We had the fish platter to share and it was one of the best meals ive ever had. You cooked the fish yourself in broth and it was lovely. We were there for a good 3 hours. Wasnt cheap but not overly expensive. Give it a try and you wont be disappointed

“Quite nice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2011

I think it was a Sunday and many places were closed..we were aiming for Nieuw Museum which is very close on same street, but it was closed. So, we wandered into De Nisse and were very pleasantly surprised. Fairly small, attractive atmosphere, and seemingly a locals place. Had a wonderful fish fondue; a hot pot of seasoned broth to cook a range of fresh tasty fish and prawns. Lovely vegetable accompaniment. Enjoyed it much. We were delighted with our meal. Only disappointment was a very limited beer menu, but fortunately they had the local Brugs Zot. All in all an excellent meal and nice atmosphere.

“Good food, Great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

We were recommended to this little restaurant by the B&B we stayed in just a few minutes walk away. We had the fish fondue combination which included an aperitif and coffee. This was excellent value for expensive Bruges. It was all delicious, and of course there is a certain enjoyment in cooking food at the table. After we had finished, the proprietor Kris gave us two cups of the lovely fishy broth we had created. The restaurant itself is cosy, clean and bright. There is a terrace for summer dining but we didn't see this on our visit.
It was the best meal we had all weekend and certainly very good value.

“Excellent food and service in a cosy restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2011

Found this restaurant while checking out a couple of others that had good reviews but were closed that night ! The Recommendations on the menu - mushrooms stuffed with snails and a rabbit dish looked excellent ... and were. It was pretty quiet in there - but the atmosphere was friendly. Excellent service from the Owner and excellent cooking from his wife. Bruges is expensive especially against the ££ but the prices were better than elsewhere and the food excellent.

“Our Best Meal in Europe This Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2011

Sure, it sounds a bit fantastic for a small French restaurant that isn't on anyone's "best of Bruges" list, but in 3 weeks of travel in Holland, Belgium and Germany, eating at restaurants given good marks in our guidebooks, this stood out. Of course, the key was ordering the house specialty, fish fondue for 2. It was not what I would ever think of ordering, but next to the Bouillabaisse in Casis, France, it was the most outstanding French fish dish I've eaten. The fish was fresh caught and the well-seasoned broth for cooking was delicious. Paired with a nice bottle of wine and the esparagus that was in season, it was amazing. Didn't have room for dessert but be sure to grab a few of their chewy fruit candies on the way out. (We tried to find these in the numerous candy stores around town but couldn't. If anyone discovers where to get them, please post it or send me a message.) Of course, like all restaurants in Belgium, this was not cheap: 110 Euros or $155 at the current exchange.
