Description: For over 40 years, the Sint-Joris restaurant, on the Markt in Bruges, has been run by the same family. In 2013, the interior of the historic house was completely stripped and rebuilt. Behind the typical facade and underneath the balks of the 13th century, you will discover a modern interior with lots of wood and warm tints which create a cosy atmosphere. Well-known, traditional Belgian food is prepared in the artisanal kitchen, as Flemish beefstew, steaks, fisherman's dish, mummy's meatballs, shrimps croquets, chicken waterzooi,... The restaurant also serves a daily lunch and a good variety of vegetarian dishes. Only first quality regional products are used in the kitchen, like local natural meat. Sint-Joris specialises in cooking for groups and has room for up to 110 people. Discover an honest and delicious restaurant in the centre of Bruges, a world heritage city.

“Friendly service and good food”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We had a quick brunch here, service was friendly and the food arrived quickly and tasted great.

Heaters outside helped take the chill off the rainy November morning

Situated on the Markt it is never going to be the cheapest but lunch was very good and reasonable value. Well worth a visit if in Brugge for a few days and you want a relaxed meal with great view overlooking the main square

Lunch, 2 November 2012.
Food: ridiculous. Service: ridiculous.
I am not certain how anyone can find this place appealing.
We would not have come here were it not for a recommendation found in the Love Bruges Guide 2012. Knowing it is situated in the perfect tourist trap, the Markt Square, nonetheless, we thought that it may be worth a shot in the dark....

Two croquettes (9,50 or more), one bowl of frozen overcooked mussels submerged in cream and a few lonely mini slices of leeks accompanying them on this teetering boat (18,50 or more); one 18,90 euro menu-a tiny plate of cheap smoked salmon with three diced onions as side kicks, one main course of a thrice killed overcooked and tasteless trout with its funny plastic container sidekick of pseudo-tartar sauce and a container of undercooked fries. En Belgique, tout de meme!

60 some euros for two including two beers.

Service is funny. Frantic waiters who look like they sniff lines but interestingly enough it is a lot of wind for a vacant tempest. It took 2 hours for this meal. The server ended up making us wait five minutes with our card stuck in the machine beeping whilst he was refilling bread baskest next to the fire place. His colleague came to the rescue. Eventually.
Touristic restaurants in Belgium, Brussels (such as the 't Kelderke) included, are very slow to cater to tourist and/or travellers. A code of sorts.
Speaking of which, the decor is very fatigued, to say the least. I do not mind that really, but hand in hand it is painful.
When we watched others orderind desserts, we wondered why would anyone have more food of this paltry level and ask for more.
I am extremely demanding, but there is after all a minimum to be had.

PS: A lady at another table let out a "oh the mussels are already shelled, but...", to be interrupted by the waiter who exclaimed: "it is easier like this".

“Good value and good location.”

On the Markt with great views of the Belfort from the terrace. We had the 18.90 euros set menu and it was very nice – good value for money.
