Nathan's tour of the Ypres battlefields is highly recommended. Believe all the positive reviews that you see here: Nathan is highly knowledgeable and very personable, and he presents a thoughtfully constructed tour of this very important World War One sector. The tour combines an appealing mix of visits to battlesites (Hooge Crater, Hill 60, and so forth), cemeteries, and museums. The included lunch was excellent and made an already great experience even better. I prefer to visit battlefields independently, but am convinced that Nathan's tour was exactly the right way to become familiar with touring WWI battlefields, and that it was an excellent primer for our subsequent visit to the Somme. Again, HIGHLY recommended!

The battlefields tour with Nathan was the highlight of our visit to Bruges. He was extremely knowledgeable and the entire day was very well-organised. I agree with everything that all the other Tripadvisors have been saying about this remarkable tour! I really dont know what else to add! The museums and the memorials were all fascinating, but what brought it alive was having Nathan's very clear and interesting explanations.

There were only six on our tour with a very comfortable minibus, so we were impressed by the personal approach to our tour. Nathan catered for three Canadians, one English, and one American!

I booked this tour for a January day while my husband and i were meeting up in Bruges for a short vacation with our 24 year old daughter who lives in Berlin. We normally are not fans of "tours" but felt that one was in order if we were to see the variously scattered sites and learn more than our scant combined knowledge. Nathan was amazing and he filled the bill more than adequately. We shared the tour bus (a comfortable Mercedes) with one fellow American, two New Zealanders, and two Australians --- one of whom was a young girl. Nathan was punctual and as soon as we all were picked up at our hotels he immediately began filling us in on WW1 and its impact on Belgium and its citizens. We visited several cemeteries and various monuments.....Nathan carefully made sure we heard stories about each of our respective countries. One cemetery which we did not visit was an American one.....an amazing fact we discovered was that all Americans were carried back to be buried on American soil. Quite touching. Nathan took us to a local farm where various artifacts were laid out in a garage to show how much is dug up every year in the Belgian soil. We never felt rushed and plenty of time was allowed to "take in" various settings...many of which were quite emotionally moving. Our family opted to experience "The Last Post" ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres and what a special tribute to those soldiers who gave their lives for freedom. We were so thrilled to have spent our day and night with Nathan. I can't recommend him enough.....he gave us all the complete picture and was always careful in his descriptions to take into account the sensibilty of the youngster. If I were in Bruges or Ypres again, I would easily sign up again for repeat.

Really glad we booked this tour to Flanders. Nathan brought history to life with his knowledge and enthusiasm. No stone was left unturned. We wish we had recorded his talks as there was so much to absorb and learn from him. Would gladly go again and certainly recommend that you book your trip to the battlefields with no one else! Thanks again Nathan from Hawick, Scotland.
