“A Hidden Gem in Brugge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2011

This was one of our most memorable stays during our 8 week tour of Europe this year. Junko and Pierre are the most amazing hosts, giving us great sight seeing advice and Junko cooking us the best breakfast of our trip. Freshly squeezed juice, home made waffles, jams etc and the best bacon and eggs we have ever tasted. Providing you are fit enough to tackle the stairs (no problem for us 60 somethings!!) the rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated and serviced daily during our 3 night stay. We travelled with another couple the same age and they also loved their room and still talk about our fantastic stay. We certainly didn't need the car, although there was parking right out the front, as Double Door is in the best location with some great restaurants just around the corner. What ever you do don't miss Brugge and don't miss this fantastic B&B

Room Tip: The stairs are fairly steep on the top floor so if you're not very fit ask for the room on the f...

My wife escaped Los Angeles for a 3 week Europe tour Double Door was our favorite lodging of the entire trip. Pierre and Junko were fantastic hosts and staying at the Double Door was like staying with friends. Several weeks before our trip I wanted to make dinner reservations at Couvert (highly recommended as well) but they didn't have any online reservation options. I emailed Pierre and he happily called Couvert and made reservations for us. As a tour boat driver Pierre's insights into the culture and knowledge of the city were insightful and hilarious. Junko whipped up fantastic breakfasts- we couldn't have asked for more. The Double Door is in a great part of the city, it's walking distance to everything but set away from the main super touristy area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, in fact, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues the top floor could be tricky

I am at the Double Door right now, in my room writing this review. I drove by myself to Brugges for the weekend and booked this place based on other cutomer reviews. The couple who owns the Double Door are so kind, gracious, and welcoming. The location is smack dab in the center of all you want to see. I have not used my car a single time. Breakfast is delicious and I loved talking with the other guests. The price is right too. Coming to Brugges and want a relaxed, welcoming, nonhotel like feel? Then the Double Door is for you. I promise.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, all are upstairs and two are up a steep second flight of stairs. No elevator...

We loved our stay at Double Door, Bruges and can certainly recommend this B&B for a romantic stay at romantic Bruges. Very friendly owners welcomed us with a nice cup of coffee providing us with very good information of the best places to visit, eat and have a drink. We arrived early and were also very lucky to be able to park right in front of the B&B (free) Our room was very beautiful and comforable and the breakfast was more then excellent. We have very good memories of our stay.

My family had two rooms at the Double Door-- my husband and I on the 3rd (by American reckoning) floor and my parents on the 2nd floor. Both rooms looked similar and were very comfortable. The stairs to the 3rd floor were very steep--not recommended if you are uncertain with your balance or mobility.

Junko and Pierre are so friendly, and Pierre is a wealth of knowledge about the city. Anything we were curious about, he could speak to at length. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

The location is excellent-- right near everything but on a quieter side street. We heard a little street noise at night, but nothing that really kept us up.

Had a pleasant three night stay in this lovely central B&B. Close to the canal, easy walking distance to all Bruges attractions. We had a room on the top floor for which you had to neogiatate some pretty steep stairs, could be perilous after a few pints of Bruges fine beers! Room was a little compact but adequate, bed was very comfortable. Noise tended to travel very easily through this B&B so although quiet at night, we were woken earlier than we would've liked by noise from other guests etc. Breakfast was very nice and the hosts were lovely.

Room Tip: Avoid top floor, steep stairs and small room.

Junko and Pierre hosted our first stay on our first trip to Europe, and it was a great introduction. Both are friendly and knowledgable. The location is great -- on a quieter street, but still just a short walk to everything.
