Easy to book with English speaking staff, great steak, it's what we went for and it delivered on every front, mine as I like it medium rare and my wife's almost cremated to a cinder. We opted for the house red and it was superb. We shared a starter and desert and the staff were not put off by this bringing extra plates and cutlery, they only serve bottled water, but for a couple of euros more not a big deal. A little out the way but worth finding and enjoying.

"Damn good food". <-- my wife
A big city foodie resturaunt in fairly small town.

Bruge isn't all that big. It's the sort of place you can walk [ to everything interesting] in a day. Tom's Diner was exactly the type of off-the-beaten-path local's fine dinning we were looking for.

Small, cozy. You should probably make a reservation. Don't worry, everyone we delt with spoke English.
Some English on the menu, you can probably figure out the rest, like the wines.

We started with the scallop appetizer. Possibly the best thing we've eaten in Brussles in 4days.
Followed by the "Classic" from the menu.. Meatloaf w/ whipped potatoes and an excellent jam ( lingonberry, maybe blueberry?). Excellent. A LOT of food.
I had the pasta, which is surprisingly common in Bruges. Penne with a very fresh, slightly tart tomato sauce. Very fresh. It also had sautéed spinach, mushrooms, capicola shaved ham, and fresh mozzarella. Sounds like a mess.. Presentation was surprisingly good though and overall the plate was excellent. Sauce ladled over al dente penne. Personally, I'd have preferred it finished off in the sauce.

Small list of wine by the glass. Tried a rose and a red, both light, both good.

Overall best resturaunt we've been in between Ghent and Bruges.

This small restaurant outside the tourist areas, but an easy walk if you have a good map, is so popular with locals that reservations are necessary -- even for early in the evening. The menu has about 8 choices for entrees as well as about the same number of options for tapas or starters -- so lots of choices if you have a group that has different tastes. Prices are reasonable for Bruges -- and much less than prices in the touristy regions! After one outstanding meal, we made reservations for the next night and went back again!

We stumbled across this great little restaurant near our hotel during a recent stay in Bruges. Being away from the main tourist centre is one of its biggest draws. Situated in an unassuming residential area (only 15 min walk from the centre) it would be easy to miss it. Cozy, warm atmosphere. Extremely well presented and unique dishes and a great wine list. Service was spot on. Would definitely recommend booking a table in advance as they were very busy when we visited, which was slightly out of season. Worth heading slightly out of the tourist centre to eat here.
