This corner-street restaurant is an understated surprise. We had our hotel make reservations here for a Sunday night, but it wasn't nearly as crowded as many of the other touristy places near the Market Square. We had a delightful meal here, as the other foodie table next to us mentioned at the conclusion of their meal as well. We started with the shrimp croquettes which were just standard . But the meal improved greatly from there. For my main course I ordered the red mullet with tagliatelle pasta and a red sauce that I loved. The sauce was very tasty and the fish was done just right. We also had the poached cod with a perfect sauce and the lamb which was cooked rare to perfection. To go with our meal we ordered fries (when in Belgium....) and they were great as well. The waiter was very formal, knowledgeable, and kind. The timing of each course was also on point. All in all, Pieter Pourbus is a true winner in Bruges.
