This corner-street restaurant is an understated surprise. We had our hotel make reservations here for a Sunday night, but it wasn't nearly as crowded as many of the other touristy places near the Market Square. We had a delightful meal here, as the other foodie table next to us mentioned at the conclusion of their meal as well. We started with the shrimp croquettes which were just standard . But the meal improved greatly from there. For my main course I ordered the red mullet with tagliatelle pasta and a red sauce that I loved. The sauce was very tasty and the fish was done just right. We also had the poached cod with a perfect sauce and the lamb which was cooked rare to perfection. To go with our meal we ordered fries (when in Belgium....) and they were great as well. The waiter was very formal, knowledgeable, and kind. The timing of each course was also on point. All in all, Pieter Pourbus is a true winner in Bruges.

We have been in Belgium for three days now and sadly we have fallen for tourist trap resturants the first few nights our of need for quick food and location. Each night we were disappointed. Tonight we did our research and ended up at this cozy, wonderful restaurant. From the beginning, the service was warm, welcoming and informative. We are foodies and work in the wine industry, so we are not novices. The food was served as ordered, delicious and just what we needed. The location was great, just down a little road from the square, easy to find if you know what you are looking for. The service was prompt but not overbearing. This was our best meal so far in Belgium and made us fall in love with dining all over again. Excellent meal, highly recommend.

Located in the Artist's home on his named street the Pieter Pourbus Restaurant was a delight. There were 5 of us and we all were extremely satisfied with our meals. A prix fixe menu that includes a nice selection of appetizers and main courses that include Belgian Specialties as well as more typical French style offerings. Whether it was Shrimp Croquette or a carpaccio or a small salad the appetizers were well prepared and delicious. Main courses of entrecôte, rack of lamb, Rouget or Dorade, a fresh pasta..all were excellent. The chocolate mousse for dessert was devoured(5spoons). Waitstaff was friendly, ever present and helpful. Overall a wonderful dining experience that should not be missed if you have a day or two in Bruges.

4 of us had a brilliant evening here; we could not fault it. Staff so friendly and helpful to everyone in the restaurant and they were full and busy the evening we were there, a Saturday. The dishes were explained; 2 of us shared the chateaubriand (43 euros total)...beautiful meat and so much of it, the other 2 of us had to help out! I had the Fish Waterzooi, which is like a bouillabaisse, absolutely delicious and our 4th had the cod and loved it. Exceptional value for money.
