My mother and I had a mini-break to Bruges, staying three nights - luckily she booked this restaurant for us for our last evening - it was fantastic! We had a number of meals out, which were mostly fine but not really worth a recommendation - this was a definite stand out.

It is a small and cosy resturant, the service was friendly and very professional (some waiters in Bruges seem somewhat jaded with all the passing tourist trade, but these were enthusiastic and attentive throughout). There is a set menu that looked very good value for Bruges, but as we had heard good things about this restaurant, we decided to treat ourselves and it was worth every cent - the dishes were interesting and well thought out, the flavours were complex and plate-lickingly good (I didn't but I was tempted!) and the desserts were rich and decadent. Portions were very generous and we had a lovely view from our table by the window.

There are many pleasant places to eat in Bruges and we didn't have a bad meal while we were there, but it is well worth planning in advance and booking a table at this place as it is in a different league. Wonderful.

Eet smakelijk!

Four of us ate there on Saturday night after enquiring about availabilty the evening before. Staff were friendly, pleasant & helpful. Yes the food is simple, but it was great, just what we wanted. Will definitely eat there again, we all had a lovely time.

Hi,
thank you for the positive response. Unfortunately we are human beings and respond as well.
Meaning if you come inside the resto with a friendly face and make eye contact then we will respond in the same way. the people who have had a nasty experience have us a negative vibe so we do not respond as well....its the first contact that makes all the difference.. in your case it was a good one.. so thank you for that. :-)

First, this is quite a small restaurant, no more than 30 covers, so you need to book. The service was excellent. My starter of shrimp salad was huge. We all ate steak as our main course and it was excellent, cooked as we requested and tender. Portions are generous and none of us could manage a dessert. The house wine was very good too.

This was the first place we happened across on the walk from the station to the hotel when we arrived on Valentines weekend. As it was lunch time we popped in on the off chance we could get seated and got a table by the window in seconds.

We didn't want to go for the full sit down experience so opted for the tourist menu, purely for convenience and were not disappointed, a carrot soup starter that didn't taste like the normal sugar water of other places I'd been to and a Steak & Fritte for main the steak was perfectly cooked.

Washed down with a couple of Bruges Zot and Strasse Hendrik, an ideal lunch.

I noticed people coming in to request a table for the evening which reminded me that despite ringing restaraunts in Bruges from the UK all week for reservations but not getting a Valentines slot, I thought I would take a chance and ask. Wasn't a problem, the happy, polite and everso helpful staff were only too happy to accommodate us for the evening slot.

The evening Meal was made even better as the restaraunt had been set up for Valentines night with complimentary gifts, chocolates, low lighting and a glass of bubbly.

Definately going to eat here again wehn we come back.

Our B&B’s proprietor recommended this restaurant, and we loved it. The ambiance was cozy, and we were fortunate to have a lovely table next to the window that looked out onto the square. The restaurant is small, so reservations are essential. The service was impeccable, the food beautifully prepared, and everything was delicious. Don’t miss the apple pie with ice cream for dessert – it’s divine!
