“Fantastic service outstanding food.”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Intimate log fire restaurant with fantastic service and great food. We both asked Tom our waiter if we could share a starter " no problem" and we ordered freshly made cheese croquettes, absolutely fantastic and hand made. Tom recommended a local dark beer to accompany our beef Flemish stew, which had been slowly cooked for 5 hours, it was served with Belgian fries and salad and it was out of this world. If you choose one restaurant then don't miss out on Chagall and visit Tom who made our visit very special.

“rudest staff I have ever met!”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Our experience of Bruges was very friendly until this place................my daughter wanted spaghetti bolognese but we were told they didn't serve it in the evening and 'if you want Italian, maybe you should go to Italy' despite the fact it was on their lunch time menu.
We then decided to just have the drinks and eat elsewhere but our wonderful waiter had other ideas. He told us to leave immediately and no need to pay for the drinks! We were gobsmacked, don't know what we had done to offend him but maybe if he has such an issue with Italian food they shouldn't serve it in the first place!
Have to say we went to the 't Vagevuur restaurant down the road which made us feel much more welcome and has excellent service.

“Nice place, lovely ambience, good hearty and satisfying food.”

Nice place, lovely ambience, good hearty and satisfying food. You can't go far wrong if you order the mussels. It's the sort of place you would come back to time and again if there weren't so many other restaurants to try.

Very cosy restaurant! I had half chicken, it was very tasty! But service was very slow, we were waiting about 30mins for our food! Staff were friendly and attentive!

“Impressive place and the food was a delight”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Damp and cold day in Brugge (Oct 2012) and we fancied a proper meal as we'd only had 'Bitterbollen' and chip type food the day before. Noticed this place when we left our hotel and thought it looked nice but said to the wife 'we can't eat at the first restaurant we see': however after a mini-wander we arrived back here and were pleased we did.

The menu and ambiance changes at 18:00 when it converts from a cafe style eating place into a romantic and more calm atmospheric restaurant. The place is the same but it feels cosier with candles and nicely set tables etc, etc. We arrived at 18:05 and the 'day trippers' had all left Brugge, leaving those of us staying to stretch out and relax a little, Chagall felt right and allowed us the space and time to soak up Brugge and recall our day of shopping and sight-seeing.

Soft classical music and attentive service, interesting decor and a small table near the fire: all good so far. The food was devine: my Flemish Beef Stew was lovely my wifes Pork Tenderlion with a pepper sauce was also wonderfull, the chips we fresh and crisp. The Ros'e we had to accompany the food was worth the cost and we thoughtly enjoyed or meal.
