Went in here for a coffee break, decided to have a scone. Ordered one each, not realising that each serving was 2 hot scones with jam and cream - absolute delight!! It was a really cold day so to go into this tea house with a large and cosy fire was heaven, along with the hot coffee and scones of course.

Myself and my wife recently stayed in Bruges and stopped here for a hot chocolate. The tea room was warm and welcoming with a nice fire and a nice range of cakes. We received fantastic service and ordered two hot chocolates, one chocolate cake and a selection of hand made chocolates. The two mugs of steaming hot milk arrived with a small preserve pot of melted Belgian chocolate and another with fresh whipped cream. After making our hot chocolate we then got stuck into the chocolate cake, be warned when we ordered we expected a slice, but we got two generous sized slices. We noticed from other customers that the cream scone also consisted of two scones, so it may be wise to share unless you feel really hungry. The chocolates were presented beautifully on a two tier china stand and after enjoying the two complimentary chocolates which came with the hot chocolate and the cake we asked for a take away bag and they kindly obliged. The chocolates were demolished later that day and they were delicious. Fantastic service, great atmosphere and great food. Can't wait until we return to Bruges where we definitely return for the best hot chocolate we have ever had.

We chanced upon this tearoom on a rainy Saturday afternoon in November. It was past 5 o'clock and time for tea and this was the first place we found. The tea was great, expensive, but well worth the price, we also ordered scones and the chocolate selection... just as well they close at 18.30 otherwise we'd still be there! Each tea comes with a small selection of chocolates so the extra selection wasn't stricly necessary, not that we left any behind. Wonderful, 5.50 euros a head and worth every cent.

There are many reviews about this cafe and they are generally exact but it is the charm and warmth of this special cafe and the presentation of food that makes it special. There are two rooms each with a fireplace and their selection is varied and service friendly and pleasant. The warmed apple pie/cake with cinnamon, raisins, a spoonful of ice cream and whipped cream and a slice of fresh fruit is delightful. Order the hot chocolate and you get a tray with a mug of hot milk, a small bowl of fresh, creamy and sparkling chocolate to put into your milk to make a hot chocolate, fresh cream along with a few pieces of chocolate on the side. That is special in Belgium where chocolate is so surreal, expensive and dreamy. In other words, in an extremely expensive country you feel the money, time and environment in De Proeverie is worth it and that says a lot in Belgium. There are many cafes and tea rooms to go to but do not miss out on De Proeverie. On a rainy or cold day or evening, having the glaring fireplace warm you up in a charming room of sweet delights can make for a great place to hold hands and just smile. It is for everyone but it does provide that cuddly moment of relief from taking in the sights.

This place def has to be visited, it's a cozy little tea room above their own choclate shop.

Ordered tea & coffee and came with a whole selection of buns, chos, biscuits, sweets and suffle. Not the cheapest place but well worth it. You can buy the chops down stairs afterwards, visit in the morning as its only small so if you come in the afternoon you might not get in.
