“Nice B&B, polite staff, informal and laid back atmosphere”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I stayed here for a couple of nights during a work related trip to Leuven. It was a nice experience. I got one of two rooms situated in the top floor. The room was nice, although a bit unpractical and "crammed" together in a loft, but still cosy. The bathroom was quite large, but it seemed they forgot a showercurtain or something to prevent water from reaching the floor. They are currently renovating and probably this will be fixed? I believe all furniture was IKEA and there was a ~37" flatscreen hanging on the wall. This TV offered both USB and HDMI input, and played back DiVX files straight from a pendrive/external HDD, which was a nice touch. The doors are very poorly sound insulated, and if someone is walking the stairs etc, you hear it well. But no problem as there is only about two rooms per floor and not much traffic.

The breakfast was great, and offered some amount of cheese, ham, freshly brewed coffe, orange juice milk both dark and light bread and so on and so forth.

They have a really nice cat and a turtle staying in the first floor where the breakfast is served, but it is defiantly no bother at all.

Don't be fooled by "B&B", this is a great little hotel (being expanded at the moment).

Beautifully appointed, with many modern touches you wouldn't see at a top-dollar city centre hotel chain.

It's a pleasant 25 minute walk into Leuven, or the nearby bus will get you there in just a few minutes for €2.

With free wifi and parking, it's the complete package. Would certainly stay here again.

B&B has today 4 rooms and is in further expansian.

As also written in below reviews: very friendly owners, excellent breakfast!! and a well equiped shower. In front of the B&B parking available.

At the minus side, the noise isolation of the rooms is poor, not really clean shower and a light pilow.

Proper balance price/quality.

Lavan, which we visited in the last weekend of April, is a small B&B in expansion. At the moment it has 4 rooms. The B&B is situated in the area of Leuven that is called Heverlee, about 2 km. from the city centre with a bus stop near the B&B. Every 15 min. there is a bus to the centre which lasts about 8 min. The B&B has a small parking for free (ordering in advance), but you can also park your motor car at the street at no costs. Lavan is smoke free but has a covered terrace. Pets are not allowed. Staff is very kind and helpful.
All rooms are situated on the first and second floor. There is no elevator, so the house is less equiped for physically handicapped people. The breakfast room is on the ground floor, where you can have your breakfast in a glazed verandah (tastefully decorated and impeccable clean) or on the covered terrace.
I asked for a guiet room and I got one (room 2 at the rear). It has a large double bed with excellent, rather firm matresses. There is a large linen cupboard with a safe in it. The room has coffee/tea facillities, a large LCD TV and a working table. It is possible to make use of Wifi for free. As far as I could see there is no air-conditioner, which is not uncommon in this part of Europe, and there is no fridge. The window is soundproofed. The bathroom has no bath tub but a luxurious shower with music on and water showering from above and the back. There is also a wash stand with soap and shower gel. There is a radiator on which you can dry your towels. Room and bathroom are impeccable clean, and it all looks rather new.
Breakfast is abundant with several kinds of bread, cheese and meat products, boiled or fried eggs at your choice. There are several kinds of cereals, jams and fresh fruit. There also is orange juice and the coffee is very good. At a distance of approximately 10 minutes walk there are 3 restaurants. We visited The Lodge Bistro where we had an excellent meal at a reasonable price.
Although the hotel is outside the city centre it is very recommendable. Price/quality ratio is acceptable (we paid 80 euro a night, breakfast included).
Tipp: visit Abdij van Park (Park Abbey), a magnificent Norbertine Abey surrounded by beautiful nature. There also is a small museum. If you like to take pictures this place is a gem.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear.
