Perhaps this place has recently been rennovated or changed hands as there are so far, no reviews of it. It was therefore with trepidation that I made the booking. We wanted somewhere near the station ready for an early morning departure to Brussels airport. It is in the large station square, is also a restaurant and is a bit odd. There's a small, cramped reception desk with a friendly enough receptionist who doubles as a waitress.
We were given a second floor room and asked where the lifts were - there are none, but the receptionist/waitress managed to find a young lad to help us up the stairs with the luggage. Steep, badly carpeted stairs followed by steeper, carpetless stairs - was beginning to think I'd made a mistake till we saw the beautifully and very recently rennovated room. Nice decor, large, flat screen tv with about 40 channels, modern bathroom. Oh and genuinely free wireless internet access is a real plus!
The main problem is lack of air conditioning - it's summer so you need the window open but then you get the sounds from the square below. Despite the promiximity to the railway station, we are not disturbed by train sounds - only people shouting.
The price paid, 55 Euros, includes a double bed and breakfast for two (we haven't tried the breakfast yet, but should be OK as it has a proper kitchen) so all in all, worth trying. I'd be interested in later reviews as I get the impression this is a work in progress.
