Gluten allergy? It's great to find a restaurant in Ghent where all dishes are gluten free!

“Restaurant for the raining day”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

If u have nothing to do on a raining day and all the time in the world, not in a hurry to satisfy ur hunger, you are welcome to this cozy place and enjoy the decor.
If u want to just eat and run, be careful since the bills come very fast....

“Friendly service, good food and pleasant surroundings”
Reviewed November 21, 2011

It was a Friday therefore it was fully booke but the young lady found us a table and laid it for us. i was not in a rush so did not find the service slow at all. Had a port for apertif and then chicken tikka massla. Very tasty and ample serving. They also have a great and extensive wine list at reasonable prices for a restaurant. i had a nice time at this restaurant withits friendly and accomodating staff.

“food was okay, service was too slow”
Reviewed November 20, 2011

The food was okay, first course: padums with different sauces, then for the main course we had chicken korma with coconut sauce and yellow curry, and the chicken madras. both dishes were good. The service between the first and the main course was very slow. Although I can understand that because there was a lot of people in the restaurant. But still, first come first serve, right!?

“Overpriced, tiny portions, mediocre food, beyond slow service”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

Went to Raj on Thursday night with 3 others. The ambiance and decor were fantastic and inviting and drew us in. We all ordered our food...no appetizers or drinks, only entrees. After 30 minutes of waiting, a group of 6 came in and sat accross from us and ordered. 30 minutes after that, their food came out and we still had no food. We asked the waitress if she could check the kitchen because it had been over an hour since we ordered and she immediately returned with one big salad for our table to share. The salad clearly had been put together days before as the veggies were dried out and the onions, tomato and cucumber were slimy. Our food finally followed the salad...after 1 hr and 15 minutes of waiting. For 17 euro, I got 3 nearly bite-sized pieces of lamb. Everyone else's dishes were tiny as well. The lamb saag tasted like cigarettes and the other curries all tasted the same as the others with no dish distinction. The food was luke-warm and we were given rice to share between 4 people which was really enough for 2 people. We ended up ordering and paying for an extra side of rice.
At the end of our meal, when paying the bill, our waitress asked how the meal was. When I politely told her about my frustration over the wait, she sheepishly declined to say anything at all. I realize the slow food was not her fault, but she should have offered for us to speak with the manager.
For 91 Euro, we got 4 entrees and 2 bottles of their overpriced designer tap water (do a side by side taste test...it's the same).
This was by far the most disappointing meal we had in Gent and the most expensive. It's a shame because clearly the restaurant owner invested a lot into decor and ambiance. They fell completely short on quality, quantity, taste, price and service.
