We had booked for a lunch based on earlier review here and we did expect a good restaurant. The price level is not the cheapest on this one so you can expect something.

As a started we both had: Carpaccio vof beeft rund (Wagyu) I was not impressed by this beef, not very tender but it was ok.
As main course I had beef with vegetables and this was perfect !

What was not perfect was the service.
We started getting some bread, tasted very good but there was no plate to put this one. This is something you would expect in a restaurant in this price class.

Once web had our food no one came by to ask if everything was ok, do we want another drink. When we were ready eating our main course the table was cleaned and we were ready for desert. One of the plates the food was served on had a small part that was broken off. Small detail but you should not use this. We told the waiter the plate was damaged and his response was who did this, looking at us, yeah right !

So after he tot the plates no one came to ask if we wanted desert, coffee another drink Please not there were 14 people in the restaurant at that moment. For 1 waiter this should not be a problem. As we did not want to wait another x minutes we asked for the check, paid and left

So this restaurant gives us mixed feelings. Food is good but service is not what you expect when paying the prices they ask.

Would we go again, don't think so.

Last night during the lightfestival in Gent we had an excellent diner at the Faim Fatale. The restaurant is located near the theater in the centre. When you enter the restaurant it feels like home as it's decorated in a stylish living room, complete with fire place. The service of the owners is very good, they really enjoy it and serve with a smile. Then the food, i had the carpaccio for starter and seabass for main course. The food is of excellent quality with pure and nice flavours. The starters were a bit small, but were compensated with a bigger main course. We will be back next time and maybe take the the surprise menu of the chef!

We certainly enjoyed the high-end cooking here, as well as the atmosphere, which is thankfully much less precious than you might expect at a restaurant of this standing. At the beginning of the evening the waiter appeared rather cocky and we thought he might have an attitude problem; however, he calmed down as the evening wore on. We would probably recommend.

a pretty little restaurant with lots of character. The garden was lovely, but impossible to use because the rain makes the wooden decking too slippery. The food was very different - the menu was not in English or French, but the manager/waiter (?) helpfully explained it all. My rabbit was delicious, as was the cod. I'm glad I didn't go for the surprise dish - squirrel would be a bit much! Great fun winkling out the winkles though! Prices not too bad, although Ghent is generally expensive compared with the UK.
