We chose this on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed! True it's not the cheapest, but we paid 130 Euro for a meal for 4 with all the trimmngs - wine/beer, desserts etc - and were pleasantly surprised. They catered well for veggies, which isn't always the case in Belgium, and all four of us loved what we ate.
The waiter was extremely attentive but did make a couple of mistakes - we had to ask twice for several things and he initially brought meaty amuse-bouches to all of us, but these were swiftly rectified. I do share the concerns about the water, but our guy did say when we asked it that it "isn't part of Belgian culture" to serve tap water. This is annoying to anyone from the UK, but also true!
Overall I felt this was very good value and will go there again.

A group of us attended this restaurant this evening. It was a special occasion (a 50th birthday celebration). We were initially impressed by the ambiance and the menu (although very pricey - particularly the starters).

Things started to go wrong when we asked for tap water (rather than bottled water). The waiter appeared to agree to this request but proceeded to serve bottled water. We challenged this but he told us in no uncertain terms that this was not possible (but only after serving the water).

3 (out of 7) members of our group wanted to eat from the set menu. Initially we were told this was only possible if the whole group did this. However, the menu included fish to which one member of our group is allergic. The waiter checked with the chef and advised that they would allow us to have the set menu but we may have to wait an addition 10 minutes for the food. We agreed to this.

The restaurant proceeded to serve a complimentary amuse bouche - which included fish - even though we have only just advised them of the fish allergy. The plate with the fish was not removed and the waiter did not appear concerned about this.

The service was appalling. We waited almost an hour for our starters; and then only received our main courses 2 hours and 20 minutes after we arrived. This was in spite of several inquiries about when these would be served. On each occasion we were told in a couple of minutes. When the food finally arrived, a number of the lamb cutlets I had ordered were barely cooked (some looked as though they had not seen the pan) and the fries were soggy. However, given the length of time we had waited, I was not inclined to send this back. Another member of the party had ordered steak - cooked medium - but this was closer to being blue. Again, we had waited too long to send it back.

The waiter, sensing we were unhappy, had the audacity to imply that the poor service and long wait was not their fault and that they had told us we would have to wait because the whole table didn't eat from the set menu. When we challenged him and pointed out that we had been advised that the wait would only be an additional 10 minutes he refused to discuss this any more. The only concession made by the restaurant was to offer us a free coffee

It was quite clear from the outset that the culture of this restaurant is that the customer will do as the restaurant requires; and that the restaurant (not the customer) is right.

Given that this restaurant displays a Michelin recommendation and taking into account that the food is priced at the high end, the service was second rate and the waiter was downright rude.

My evening was ruined and I think I would say the same for the majority of my party.

I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

We ordered the 4 dish degustation menu with the adapted whine. Dishes looked and tasted delightful. Every dish was accompanied with a custom whine that was carefully selected. The setting itself is also nice, it has an 18th century touch to it.

Bill: 168 euros including 2 aperitifs, two 4-dish menu's, adapted whine and 2 coffee's, it was worth every cent.

Thanks to trip advisor, we discovered this fabulous restaurant. We first enjoyed a champagne appertive paired with fresh oysters and then had the four course meal. We shared a bottle of Grand Cuvee and it was only 38euros. It was by far, way too much food for us, but when the desserts arrived- we couldn't say no. My friends had the fresh sorbet while I indulged in the cheese platter. Everything was so fresh. The waiter was genuinely friendly and even presented my friend with cake and a candle for her birthday! We would definitely visit again.

Been there twice for very different occasions... once with colleagues from all over Europe and once for Valentine's day. And in both cases I was very happy with the choice. The environment is perfect, the food delicious, the service very good!
