First experience with this restaurant: poor service, crowded and noisy!
So, we have decided for a next time to try the take a way. The opportunitty arrived with a special family birthday which we wanted to celebrate with a coupe of friends! Big mistake... Not just the dishes cost at least one euro more than the indicated on line (nothing was told us at the reservation) but we had to pay a 4.5 euro extra/dish at the moment we went to collect (not justified anywhere on line and also not on the phone)... Apparently that is the price of the aluminium throw away serving box for take away!!!!!!
Never more...

For our first wedding anniversary we booked beforehand a table at this small restaurant. As it was a monday, fortunately it was quite calm. The lobster menu was delicious and the wine was also very good. Foodwhise this was a memorable experience. The staff on the other hand wasn't that smiling and welcoming. From the kitchen we heard things that shouldn't be heard... maybe because we where one of the last clients to leave. But we will definetely remember the great diches!

Le Grand Bleu is one of my favorite restaurants in Ghent. We have been there 6 or 7 times sofa. The style is very much bistrot, with wooden tables without table cloth. The menu's are excellent value. The specialty is lobster of course, in a great variety of preparations.
For groups of people (up to 25?), I recommend Le Jardin Bleu from the same owner, which is some 15 km from Ghent and serves the same menus.

This is the kind of restaurant you love when you've been to many, many high class restaurants. This is the place you will love for its simple interior, but excuise kitchen. We go often there, and never been less than 95% satisfied. We don't know ONE single restaurant to offer what they offer. It's not cheap, but I wouldn't call it expensive either. There's a couple of restaurants that charge you 10x more for chemical kitchen, extravagant food....I don't need all that crap. 'Le Grand Bleu', my kinda restaurant. Friendly, not over done, just right how you want it, and order it....

Excellent place for fish & lobster in Ghent. Have been many times, never disappointed, and always paid a fair price.
