We arrived to the hotel at 10.30am only to ask if they can store our luggage, and we were told that our room is ready and we can check in. That was excellent! All the receptionists we dealt with were very professional. Our room was big, clean, with an extremely comfortable bed. Very nice toiletries (lemon grass) and a huge bath. We had an excellent sleep as the room was very quiet. The hotel is in a very central location of Gent. It has an old front facing the river (merchant house from 16th or 17th century) and very interesting modern interior. We were told by our tour guide that the old sing on the building (two swans not facing each other) means that it used to be a brothel in the past.
If I wanted to be critical, there were some minor problems: some of the furniture (draws) wasn't working properly; it is a pity that it is impossible to open windows and you have to rely on aircon (even when there is perfect 20C temperature outside); breakfast extra for 25 Euros seems a bit too much as you can get excellent breakfast in many cafes nearby for 10-15 Euros; finally, we didn't have much of a view looking at some boring house opposite (my photo of the view attached), but you have the choice to pay extra to get a river view. Overall, this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. I also find Gent more interesting than Bruges, as it feels like a real city that hasn't been entirely taken over by tourism.

A comfortable hotel, excellent location and old world charm just outside its doorstep. Lots of restaurants nearby. We stayed three nights and were totally pleased in every way. From Ghent, we found it quite easy to take day trips by train to Bruges, Antwerp and Brussel. There is long-term street construction around the Korenmarkt area. In spite of this, we found plenty in Ghent that caught our eye -- and the Marriott was a wonderful place to stay.

The Marriott Ghent, is in a envaible location looking towards the main canal.
We only had time to stay one night, but it really wasn't enough to give this town the time to fully explore all it had to offer.
The front of the hotel is very traditional, but behind in the main part of the hotel it's a different story, very bright and modern. We were also staying in this part of the hotel. The room was big and comfortable, lovely big bed. Breakfast was good as well. Only one very small gripe, that the shower curtain could do with a change, part from that top marks!

One of the best Marriotts I stayed in Europe. The hotel decor is contemporary and the bed is super comfy. The hotel staff were very friendly and responsive.
The location is best, just by the river with beautiful well-preserved ancient buildings along the banks.
The food and beer in local restaurant are awesome, it's such a joy walking in this old town.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, as it is right in the middle of the old town. The food was absolutely delicious as well! The rooms are big, the only incovenient is that it is impossible to open the windows, which I find really annoying! Another annoying modern fact was that there is no staircase, so even just to go down one set of stairs you have to use the elevator....
I was there as part of a congress and their congress facilities are good as well! Again the food they serve during the coffee breaks is lovely and there is plenty!
