Great rooms, lovely breakfast and the beds are perfect! The building is a beautiful old house close to the center of Ghent. Michaela is very friendly and makes you feel at home in Ghent. She adviced us some restaurants, only you have to make sure to make your reservations early (that counts for every restaurant in Ghent for the saturdays) A perfect bed and breakfast for a perfect stay!

Loved this B&B. had a large room and large breakfast. Location is great, just outside of the busy loud area of the town but easily walking to and from. Could not have asked for a better time in Ghent.

My husband and I decided to head to Ghent without reservations and Michaela was kind to give us a room even though she had not planned to be open the week we were coming through. Our stay in Ghent and at the Big Sleep was a memorable part of our trip. To begin with, if you want to stay at B&Bs - don't expect the same as a Holiday Inn. Our hostess Michaela made our stay a very memorable experience. She was welcoming, interesting to chat with and assisted us with understanding the area and choosing restaurants. She provided extras like a kettle/ tea in our room when we asked her. Breakfast was excellent and more than we needed - but it sure kept us going. The room we stayed in was very spacious and having the toilette across the hall was no problem for us. The location was central and we could walk into the centre of town very easily to restaurants, stores, etc.

My only reservation for booking this lovely B&B, would be people with mobility problems. The rooms are on the third floor and involve three long, fairly steep staircases.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper and like a quieter room, ask Michaela for the one facing the back of the house, if possible. The front rooms were on a well traveled route that was quite noisy in the morning.

We stayed two nights in the Big Sleep in Ghent in May of 2012 while cycling through Belgium. Our rooms were lovely, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our hostess was outstanding! She suggested several exhibits that we were not aware of, helped with a medical emergency issue and was friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We would stay there again and have recommended it to our friends.

There are several flights of stairs, but no one minded. The house is beautiful, bright with lots of light and fun ecletic furnishings.

Room Tip: The canal side has really nice views.

We have just returned from a four night stay in Ghent, basing ourselves at Michaela's bed and breakfast which we found excellent. An ideal setting, a short walk from Dampoort station, it was quiet yet only 5 minutes walk to the bustling centre. Our room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable with a view over the canal. Breakfast, served in the elegant dining room, was delicious and plentiful, it kept us going all day! Michaela was welcoming and friendly with advice about what was going on and where to go. There was plenty to enjoy in Ghent, we certainly hadn't exhausted its possibilities in 4 days.
