This restaurant should not be judged as a normal restaurant. It's quite peculiar. It is a strange mix of the singularity / obstinacy of the people of Ghent, a love for the Alsace region, an owner with a strong character and a completely outdated although consequent interior, what makes it kind of fashionable again.
If you enter here expecting food from the last thirty years in a normal restaurant with neutral attendance in a new and sparkling interior, you will get disappointed. If you do enter with the mindset to expect something else, like a sincerity to bring products from the Alsace in a way and context that is the most fit for it according to the owner, it will be great. Expect the atmosphere of Fawlty Towers, but than in a kind of good way.
We ate with two, had a great night, some odd but friendly conversations with the owner and his wife. We had food that was not spectacular, but certainly not bad and honestly homemade, for a rather good price.
If you come here, let yourself immerse in this world created, and be prepared to follow the rules of the house (you are asked to put your cellphone on mute when entering, you won't get any mayonnaise with your fries if you ordered a steak with sauce, ..)
