“far away from centre, house keeping could do more”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

this Hotel is far away from the centre of Gent and a bit below the standard of NH Hotels globally. Unfortunatey the bathroom had some mold on the ceiling in the shower and the backside of a small extra mirror (for make-up...) has not been cleaned since mothe or years - no excuse! The Internet is fre of charge but only with limited bandwith and up to 100 MB - above one has to pay. There is an (open-air) parking lot for guests and one has to pay 9 EUR for that - for a garage this would be acceptable, but for a parking lot?! All of that would be somehow ok in the city centre, but in this area and for EUR 100,- per night, this was my first and last time.

The hotel is very well located for travel, being only 5 minutes from the station. However, the town is around 30 minutes away on foot. The building itself is fine, but it feels a little old and it could do with some renovation. The room itself was spacious, if a bit dim. We actually asked to change the first room we were given because there was only one small window and it cast no light on the bed, being partitioned by a dividing wall. The second was better but still felt somewhat dark. The bed was comfortable enough and there was a good TV, though the toilet also felt like it was in need of renewal. The free wifi was very slow and newspapers are communal, which is not very useful. Overall, it was satisfactory, but nothing special.

This hotel had really large rooms, was fairly modern, and located nearby Sint Pieters train station.

It wasn't extremely close to the centre of town (about a 30 minute walk); however, the walk is scenic and safe, even at night I never felt threatened.

Ghent is a friendly city. If visiting again I would consider staying at the NH Ghent Sint Pieters; however, it would be nice to get somewhere a little closer to the centre.

Good location Close to the Rail Station & walking distance to the Park for the velodrome. Trams outside for easy access. Buffet breakfast is good but there are great cafes near the Station to eat too. Recommended especially for a trip near Christmas as Ghent is so pretty.

Lovely looking entrance and thought Christmas had come early when given a massive room (116) . On arrival the windows where wide open so assumed the room was cold due to this, shut these and expected to arrive back a few hours later (after dinner) to a warm room having turned up the thermostat to maximum. On returning the room was still cold so complained to the receptionist who informed me that the room temperature was controlled by them (thermostat in room did nothing !!) The room did not change temperature so they gave us an extra duvet. Even so we had to sleep fully clothed to keep warm. I then thought of the idea of using our hair dryers to warm the room, which worked but the problem being the noise. The bedroom was not double glazed and heavy traffic which included trams ran outside the hotel. This was not a restful 4 day break and we both returned to England absolutely exhausted. The parking around the hotel (if you can't get into the hotel car park) is limited to 2 hours a day. This caused us lots of problems. Will never return to this rubbish hotel

Room Tip: If you want a good room then use trip adviser to get a good hotel, unfortunately we did not and suff...

Last year we stayed in the NH Gent Belfort which was fantastic! However, as we visit Ghent to see the cycling at the velodrome in Citadel Park, this year we decided to try Gent Sint Pieter which is much closer. Never again! We specifically booked a superior room with a double bed. We were given a very ordinary room with twin beds and two duvets. The room itself was dirty and the bath a disgrace. I complained and was told there was a problem with "housekeeping" - too true! We were moved to another room only to find that the mini bar had not been restocked - not that we were desperate for a drink but we didn't want to be charged for the missing items nor for the half open mini bottle of red wine! The "view of roof tops" as described on their website for a superior room proved to be incorrect. Our view was across a fairly narrow street into other people's houses - we closed the curtains for privacy. No iron just a trouser press. Even the tea and coffee wasn't replenished on a daily basis. Something is seriously wrong with this hotel which is probably why we weren't given a customer questionnaire to complete!

Room Tip: Less noisy at the side of the hotel but overlooked by houses. If booking a superior room ask to see...

Stayed at hotel on night of 16 November with group of work colleagues on a weekend away. Hotel check in was quick efficient, and the reception staff were friendly. Room was clean, bright and spacious, but cold even with the heating on. We had reserved a double room and expected a double bed, but what we got was two uncomfortable single beds on rollers pushed as every time me and hubby moved the beds rolled apart. Was not impressed as this was suppose to be a 4 star hotel!
